Fingers crossed Watch Dogs 3 is good!
I think the reason why the Housers never deviate from the US (besides losing its inherent criminal/dystopian elements) is because they'd lose their ability to browbeat American culture with hamfisted sarcasm (a favourite British pastime). If they did a GTA in London, for example, they'd basically be forced to poke fun at themselves. Now that wouldn't be any fun, would it? :p
Eh, you’ve got a point, sorta, but I’ve seen American culture parodied ad infinitum. It’d be interesting to see something.. new.
And doesn’t it prove some kind of lack of self-awareness to be incapable of mocking oneself?
They already have a GTA in UK.
London '61 and London '69, expansions for GTA 1
Ew GTA London.
Re: Inability to poke fun at oneself... I take it you have never seen most of the greats of UK comedy. Anything that is not ripping on septics is either seriously abstract or taking the piss out of the same country.
I don't know if it is as ripe for parody in game form as big city America but far from impossible either.
Hm? Oh, no, I didn't mean there's no such thing as UK comedy that pokes fun at itself. I meant it in a more general sense, asking a more philosophical question overall.
@DinohScene Yeah... but I also specifically said "And not the one from the 90s."... Those are cool though.
@FAST6191 what do you think is the best UK comedy? Personally I think Peep Show is the best comedy to come out of the UK. But I'd love to hear recommendations.
Back on topic, if they had a team in the UK, I'm sure Rock* could make a decently entertaining story. Best we have now is the Watchdog team and we'll see if it's good.

There is much I like and there is much I do not, however much of what I do not I can also see being someone's favourite show ever. Can't go wrong with the Python films and Live at the Hollywood Bowl. Equally if you have never read Terry Pratchett then best do the first 10 or so discworld books at least.
