  • The Ubisoft sale is pretty good I must say, got two complete editions for over half the price.
Just upgraded to a 165hz monitor and HOLY SHIT is it smooth. I can't go back to 60hz, it looks way too choppy now...

Another drastic improvement for me is GSYNC, with VSYNC off, even 60fps looks a lot better.

When I bought my monitor it was in the gsync category, but apparently it doesn't actually support it :/ I really should hit up their support and ask them about that

Try going into Nvidia Control Panel and then the Set up GSYNC option, enable GSYNC compatible.
Here's hoping that the next gen jump won't be too big, I wanna hit 2K 60+fps on my current gen gpu.
Do you ever do really good cable management in a PC where you would like to open the back panel just to look at it?

My computer is a mess and I don't even have the side panels for it.

A next gen Switch that's backwards compatible like its competitors, that would be sweet.

But then their efforts to resell me quick and easy ports/emulator bundles of last generation's games would be frustrated.

Sadly, backwards compatibility wouldn't be possible with GCN/Wii/WiiU, because the Switch has a different architecture. Also, I doubt it's powerful enough to emulate them.

120hz Console Gaming is nice and all but a 4K120hz TV would cost a fortune, I'm not ready to get a brand new TV...

Should be ok though, as only a minority of games will support it.

PS5 and XBSX will not be capable of hitting 120 FPS in 4K, even top-of-the-line PC GPUs can't manage more than 80ish FPS in 4K at the moment (depending on settings). If you're buying a TV for next-gen gaming, 4K@60Hz is plenty good enough, or 1440p@120+ Hz if you're buying a monitor instead. Neither option is all that expensive.

Honestly DLSS 2.0 is more impressive than raytracing for me

Am I dreaming or does it look like next gen consoles could do 4k 60fps? My PC's GPU doesn't even go that far, those must be beasts. :o

Making games is by no means an easy task, here I thought it would be easy but there's constant road blocks.

The biggest issue for me at least is coming up with new ideas, originality in my experience is a rare occurrence. I could just take inspiration from other games, but that would just make me feel incompetent, and I'm getting a lot of that feeling making my first game.

Eh, maybe things will change with time, but as for now, it's a bit difficult. :)

Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw (the babbling Brit with the game review videos) has a weekly dev vlog where he talks about video game design and development. This past year he tried (and more or less succeeded) to make 12 original games in 12 months, and his vlog followed the process. I recommend giving it a watch.
