New Zealand is a country, on an island, on its own continent called zealandia now
Continents are not exactly a steadfast definition - it's more consensus than anything
In any case this will not change the number of continents
True, but it's accepted that continents are based largely on tectonic plate boundaries, they've just mapped the tectonic plate, 94% of the tectonic plate is (now) underwater, new Zealand being the 6% that is dry land...
