I have recently homebrewed my 3DS after finding it in the cupboard after 2 years. Well it was already homebrewed when i got it from the shop 5 years ago (it had 20 games + fbi on the sd card). I found it once again and i gave it the latest CFW and other things + firmware update. Im having great fun with it. (o3dsxl)

I was downloading ctgp 7 and was just surprised by the shit connection speeds. this got me thinking, the homebrew on the 3ds has gone so far, would it be possible to arrange data transfer through the gamecard slot?

ive done some research (tactical googling) and i think its decently possible.

Theory:

Achieve data transfer from a PC to a 3DS through the gamecard slot

Hardware:

Promising start for the cart circuit: cant post it, restriction
Cart shell (none)

possible setup

might need to add height adjusters to make sure no unnecessary force is put on the components.

Software and More hardware:

Since no way the 3ds will accept our blasphemy of a cart, we will need to use homebrew to make this work. An arduino nano could be used to send and receive data.

The 3DS still should accept data through pin 9-16 as its a bi-directional data bus

Is there a good 3d model of 3ds or ds cartridge, if so, a poor gamecard would not be needed to be sacrificed

An arduino nano is not capable of transfer speeds anywhere close to the 3DS wifi speed, you're gonna need something more powerful.
But sure, it could be done, seems rather a lot of hassle just to transfer files faster though, there are much better uses for cart slot addons.

Nintendo themselves used this technique to connect 3DSes to computers for factory setup.
