A couple years ago I broke my Wii U gamepad and I quit playing on my wii u, however I ended up deleting the wii u homebrew folders to make room for the VWii homebrew. I recently purchased a Wii U gamepad and although I still have the Haxchi and Wup Installer GX2 apps I'm afraid to open the apps because I'm afraid it's going to brick my wii u. Does anybody know what files I may need to safely run homebrew again on my Wii U? Thanks in advance!

I should also mention I am using a new SD card as well.

We would have to know whats on your console to answer that question! Ie how it was modded... U mention haxchi... Is it normal haxchi? Coldboot haxchi? Do you see an autobooting message before the menu loads? Do you have a 'don't touch me' icon on menu?

If you see an app on your menu, redownload the files for it (just google the app name or check the hbl store) however if its an installed channel you don't even need the files on sd.... Only way to find out is to boot them. If indeed they are only forwarders it will be unable to boot and either reset itself or you just manually reset the console. If its a channel, hey presto! Your in!

I don't remember what kind of haxhi it was, all I remember is that in order to access it I would have to log into the internet and put in some special link to open the homebrew channel. I tried opening up both of the apps and I found that Haxchi does boot up only to show a black screen with a "-5" in the corner. Wup Installer GX2 however would prompt an error screen that told me to restart my wii u.

You need the files on your sd card in that case then. The errors are basically no sd card found so they will be unable to boot.

Just grab the files either from the thread or the hbl store and put them on your card.

Maybe a better option to upgrade to either tiramasu or aroma at this point tho as haxchi is outdated and most homebrew will be aroma only from this point on.

Also saves you the hassle of doing the browser exploit everytime.

I should also bee more specific, I used to boot homebrew through the internet brower, then I learned that it's more faster to launch it through tiramsu/Haxchi then I downloaded both of them. I vaguely recall using the mii maker to get the process done too.
