Hello there, I was wondering which first person shooters were really good, if there are.
I got a Wii just a few months ago, played some games that really wanted to play and I was curious about first person shooters, heard that The Conduit games were really good so I actually finished them, good games but the experience wasn't that good, the frame rate was very unstable with drops in several places, I could tell the game was struggling to reach 30fps.

Then I started with Metroid Prime saga and good lord, the best experience I had with the console, 60 fps smooth as eggs and the game plays like a Nintendo game, like if the console was designed for the game (I know they are not classic fps).

Are there more games I should try? I was considering 007 Quantum of Solace.

You already mentioned the best 😆
There is also Farcry Vengaence, some Tom Clancey and Call of Duty titles. Maybe check on metacritic.
I was hoping there were other fps better than the conduit, not expecting an experience like the metroid prime games, but not as unstable as the conduit. Thanks for the reply.

No one wants to talk about GoldenEye 007 Wii (by Activision)?
I played the 64 version too long ago, I was also considering that 007 game, I'll check it for sure. Thanks for the reply.

You can play the remake of Golden Eye 007, is one of my favorite games on the Wii
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try both of the 007 games, I heard that Quantum of Solace was better but honestly didn't want to see much about them. If the game is at least stable and plays well then I'll enjoy it for sure, I mean it was a it was a bit uncomfortable to play both of the conduit games,.

Red Steel 2 is surprisingly good although it focuses more on swordplay with motion plus control, rather than the shooting elements
Right, its more like a hack and slash in first person view right? Looking around it seems like its always on the Wii top games.

Nobody in their right mind is thinking a/b playing FPS on Wii as their first platform of choice... Maybe rail shooters.

Wii offers an excellent control for playing this kind of games on the TV. I recommend these games:

- Traditional First Person Shooter: Metroid Prime saga, Golden Eye 007, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 and 3 (in third place, also Blacks Op if you forgive them their initial levels, then it improves both in graphics and framerate), Conduit 2 (better than the first one), Red Steel 2 (very good, you need wiimotion plus to play it).

- Rail Shooter: Dead Space Extraction (excellent), Resident Evil Chronicles games (very good), House of the Dead games (specially the compilation that includes the second and third game of the saga, much more arcade), Ghost Squad (very good if you like arcade games like Time Crisis. Although it may seem short at first, it has a lot of alternative paths, levels and variants).

If you use Nintendont you can play the firts person shooter of gamecube with an adapted control pointing to the screen (just like you played Metroid). It's a luxury to play them this way. Here I recommend, among many others, the following games, which also include very good offline multiplayer with bots: Time Splitter 2 and 3 (outstanding both in level design, weapons and content), 007 Nighfire (very good), Red Faction 2 (lots of maps and options to improve your bots) and XIII. You also have Serious Sam (very good, with much improved graphics for gamecube), Medal of Honor Frontline (set in WWII) and the Rainbow Six games (if you want to participate in a tactical unit). As a hidden gem of the genre you can also try Geist (which after some bad initial impressions, ends up being a good game unique in its genre).

Stay away from mediocre games like Far Cry Vengeance, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon or Turok Evolution.

Finally, let's not underestimate the homebrew ports of genre classics like QuakeGX (with a control perfectly adapted to the wiimote, as if it had been created expressly for wii), Doom, Duke Nukem and WolfStein. Also through Not64 and Wii64 the Firts Person Shooter of Nintendo 64 can be played on the console by pointing at the screen like any native Wii game, which is a marvel.

I second this, but I also recommend you play the rest of the Dead Space games. Well, maybe not Ignition.

Also, super glad you enjoyed Metroid Prime as much as you did but I think in a lot of ways I prefer playing them with a GameCube controller, so if you get the chance don't hesitate to try it. It's very intuitive actually.

How? I would love to do this, do you have any link to a tutorial?
I searched about this on google and found nothing.

Dead Space PC trilogy are on my list, I'll check extraction, only heard good things about the game, thanks for the recommendation.

The motion controls implementation is atrocious, oh my god.

I tested with 007 Nightfire, All I wanna do is fire with B in the Wii remote and have all buttons mapped.
But when I press 2+Z to enable the IR, the settings are all messed up. Shooting (R) became shake the nunchuck and this is horrendous.
I tried to follow the instructions to enable other button configurations with the IR, but nothing works.

For nintendont I always use 2 + D-pad Right (+ Z for first person shooter). This is the best and only way to play well, don't use the control scheme that nintendont uses by default at startup.

Here you have images of the preconfigured control modes:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendont-wiimote-nunchuck-support-discussions.371356/

Every time you start a game you have to press 2 + D-pad Right (+Z if you need to activate aiming in that control mode). The 2 button has to be held down all the way while pressing D-pad Right and then Z, i.e. don't press 2 + D-pad button, release and then press 2+Z separately.

The fact that the dpad of the gamecube controller is used on the wiimote by pressing the C+Dpad button is a very good idea, because it allows you to keep aiming and moving the character, something you can't do with the original gamecube controller because it forces you to move your thumb.

Thank you very much!

I played the Wii version of prime 1 and I'm playing the Echous at the moment, I was going to play the Gamecube games but I don't have a Gamecube controller at the moment, and as Prime 3 is only available on Wii, I wanted to play the 3 with the same controls.

The Conduit were very good games, I only struggled with the framerate at certain places (whole maps sometimes), having a similar experience with Resident evil Dark chronicles on the first map (market) and vs the first boss, I hope these issues are gone in different areas of the game, I can tell the game is having drops below 20 fps, it can be felt.

About Gamecube fps, really appreciate the list! It seems I started with Timesplitters Future perfect and haven't finished yet, even playing vs bots its fun, tho I didn't know it was the third game.

Eh I didn't know about those ports with motion controls, thanks for mentioning, and giving a warning about those games.

What?? You can play Goldeneye 64 with motion controls? Dude wtf!!

Conduit is pretty good.
