Sony says it will take "at least a year" for exclusives to reach PC, unless they're live service games

In a recent interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst revealed that its exclusives will stay on console for "at least a year" before making it to PC. The one exception will be for its live-service games "because you want to have a really strong community, strong engagement right away when you go live." Seeing as Sony has ten live-service games in the pipeline, and that was a key reason they purchased Bungie, those games coming day and date could be significant.

i don't see the need for exclusives anymore, so it's nice to see games being on almost every platform
that being said i think some games are best experienced on certain devices, and in certain positions.

my ps5 is collecting dust with not much reason to play it, i've been clearing out my backlog on steam
but i don't see myself waiting for a sony exclusive to play it on my steam deck, but it depends.

i'd probably rather play both horizon games for example on ps5 on a couch as opposed to having it portably with reduced battery life, but even those are preferable than sitting in a chair for a couple hours playing the same game.

but sometimes pc ports have issues and might be best experienced on console. or they may be graphical showcases (like stray) i'd rather experience on console.

most of the time the "exclusives" i play on PS end up being third party.

i love that steam can allowing me to play the same game on different devices.
i can wait for an exclusive to go multiplatform, my backlog won't clear itself.

I bought my PS5 to use as a faux-PS4 Pro and for the eventual exclusive. I kinda regret my choice.
I've only played about half of FF15, Sackboy and Astro's Playroom on it.
I should have saved that $ for acquiring a better GPU on my new PC, which is currently GPU less, but still running everything amazingly well, thanks to the awesome Ryzen 5700G APU.

Without exclusives or amazing unique gimmicks, consoles have no reason to exist at all.
Nintendo should have released an updated Switch by now, the specs of that portable suck for 2022.
Still, it's the only console worth having at the moment.

FOMO. Fear of missing out. Simple as that.
Tempt a guy to get the PS5 and the exclusive asap to be able to immediately play the game.

If you got patience and don't mind waiting, then, well, eventually the game will be on PC shrug
Still not ruling out red tape, but you've got a point there, also.

Well, i can wait all time for a PC-Port ... Nothing will bring me back on the Sony Console Train again ... No one from us was touching the PS4 anymore when we got our Kids new PC's. The only interesting things would be a Handheld but no Console. Most of the Exclusives aren't even worth to buy a PS5 if ya are lucky enough to get one at a non scalper price. Before i pay 900-1000 for a PS5 i would dev prefer get a Prebuild PC for this money.
