Sony says it will take "at least a year" for exclusives to reach PC, unless they're live service games

In a recent interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst revealed that its exclusives will stay on console for "at least a year" before making it to PC. The one exception will be for its live-service games "because you want to have a really strong community, strong engagement right away when you go live." Seeing as Sony has ten live-service games in the pipeline, and that was a key reason they purchased Bungie, those games coming day and date could be significant.

This kind of exclusivity always feels kind of pointless, especially on PC where I doubt THE GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE(TM) will be swayed to buy a PS5 because of 1 year wait.

That said, I wonder if it means the PC ports will be better as a result?

My PS5 is catching dust. I only played Horizon 2 and Ratchet & Clank on it. I don't know what else to play, because almost everything else is on PC or PS4 already.

Ghost of Tsushima: I'm waiting for a PC version because of motion sickness (motion blur, fov, I want 21:9)
Returnal: Waiting for PC Version for mouse / keyboard
Demon Souls: A litte bit expsensive right now and I already played the PS3 version.
Judgment: Released recently for PC.

Only game I really want is god of war ragnarok, but if this will come after 1 year, I might sell the PS5

each day I see less and less reasons to ever buy a PS5. not that Sony's exclusives are much of a reason to buy one, but if there's no exclusives what's the point?
2 years ago when even shitty PC hardware was selling for obscene amounts, a PS5 or XSX was a total bargain for the specs (if you could find one). Obviously, as the hardware ages it becomes less compelling, but it's still quite expensive to build a decent PC, so a PS5 is not a bad way to play these games.

Makes sense. I believe they probably meant exclusives which are being released on PS5, such as Sackboy.
Obviously it doesn't mean EVERY exclusive will appear on PC, but at least those that sold very well.

EDIT: My hope for R&C Rift Apart on Steam have gotten brighter.

I just have an utopia on my mind, an utopia where PS5 is hacked and we are able to sideload linux distros on it (and some piracy maybe).

Agreed, especially with Nvidia's recent pricing on the RTX 4090/4080, not to say they're the only option or you couldn't use a 3000 or maybe a 2000 but Nvidia is the dominant force atm. (which i really hope does change) you could buy yourself a PS5/XSX, get at least 5 games AND a year or two's worth of their premium online choices for the price of an RTX 4090. most modern GPUs do cost the price of a console these days after all.

They're still exclusive to Sony when it comes to consoles.

Obviously for PC gamers there's less of a reason, but for those who game exclusively on console it may still affect purchasing decisions. It's why Sony is ****ing themselves over the COD deal, because they know it could affect their console sales to at least some extent.

I'll be honest. Got a PS5 and have played mainly my PS4 games on it and the only games I played for PS5 was Mile Morales with the Spiderman PS5 edition...Haven't really gotten anything else for it. God of war coming out but that's it. Haven't really played much except for the switch. I dunno maybe console gaming for me isn't going to be a thing anymore.

So it's just "Console Exclusives" at this point, then. No big deal on waiting 12 months.

Nintendo is the only one still standing with real exclusives and they rely on them, because the hardware isn't anything to write home about.

Buh, there were only two good Playstation anyway, and I can just emulate those. Haven't touched my PS4 since Nier, and I only ever used my PS3 after jailbreaking it and using it for PS1, PS2 and PSP emulation back in the day. Never getting a PS5, either.
