But more importantly, not everyone has access to emuMMC. Unlike the 3DS, emuMMC on the Switch requires a whopping 32 GB of free space which not everyone wants to or can afford.
It's more appropriate to say "not everyone chooses to have a emunand" saying "not everyone has access to emuMMC" implies some users cant make one.

To add ,the emunand doesn't have to be 32gigs, many user make 4/6/8gig emunands all the time, also you arent losing those 32gigs (or w,e you allocate), you can just as easily install games to it inside emunand.

12.0.0 AMS 1.3.2S, Hekete v5. 8. 0. I used the most recent HATS pack from github. There could ofcourse be something I've missed as I'm winging it big time rn. Thanks
ideally you want to avoid ALL repacks as most are bloated with useless garbage files. That said, if you do use one, fine, but next update, you really should update it manually. downloading atmosphere, fusee, hekate, sigpatches yourself and dropping on the sd card. many many MANY users face serious issues when they continue to use repacks as most switch users configurations are NOT the same causing conflicts with hb apps ect.. Then you get people in this thread asking why there switch crashed after a update simply because a hb app they didn't even know they had got included in some jank repack that just so happens to break atmosphere lol

Yes, you can (and absolutely should) use the regular Ninty update service to upgrade your clean Sysnand firmware. If you do this without Hekate as a bootloader, it WILL burn your fuses, but there’s little reason to care with 10.4. As long as you are using Hekate, the fuse count algorithm is skipped anyway.
Thank you very much for your helpful reply. Does that mean that I would be able to restore the sysnand back to 10.4 from my original backup if I wanted to ?

Good chance it won't boot if you burn your fuse count to 16, 10.0.4 fuse count is 13, and 14.1.2 is 16, you have to use a custom bootloader to preserve your fuse.

You will want to create a new backup after you upgrade firmware because if you slip up and burn fuses (and you will slip up) you won’t be able to boot. There is nothing special about 10.4 and on the off chance you want to go to 10.4 or earlier, you can always do it in Emunand. There’s nothing to be gained by rolling back to 10.4 on Sysnand.

Thank you both very much for clearing that up for me. Is there a program I can use to check the fuse count?
Hekate will show fuse count. (see Burnt Fuses in orange…4th line down on the left)

Here’s the FW:Fuse chart for reference: https://switchbrew.org/wiki/Fuses#Anti-downgrade

What type of SDCard are you using? Make, model, size, purchase location

How is your SDCard formatted? (Exfat or FAT32)

Is your SDCard sitting in your PC or is it in your Switch and mounted over a USB cable?

The card is a 128 GB. It's formatted to exfat. I can't copy the files off the card, every time I try and copy all the files it gets to around 30% then stops. It's not my reader or pc as it picks up other cards right away.

That card looks sketchy af my friend plus exfat is easy to corrupt on a switch.

Probably want to check it with: h2testw
Provided it passes you should reformat it to FAT32 using: Rufus

I figured out my launching issue - a little bit at least, anything installed from my older version of atmosphere was crashing, so I put in a game cart and was able to launch into HBmenu.

From there I tried installing off game card but I couldn't get that to work.

So I decided to update OFW to 14.0 with daybreak - and try again.

Now I'm getting an error that my game cart cant be read...

Anyone have an idea what I might have screw up this time?

Update - game cart runs fine in OFW. CFW can't read though. So I can't launch into HB menu as I don't have anything installed that will run.

There are settings that disable your GC in /atmosphere/config/stratosphere.ini and also /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini. Most people don’t need their GC in pirate mode and it’s potential hassle, but if youre sure, there are settings available to make the change to enable it.

autonogc is documented here:
https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate

nogc is documented here:
https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/blob/master/config_templates/stratosphere.ini

an easy workaround for your dilemma is to “find“ a copy of Othello.nsp and install it with Tinwoo…then you have a game tile you can use to launch HBL using title override.

quick question, but on the rentry guide for CFW, do I have to enable autoRCM or is it optional? Also, when it says to move back any previoulsy deleted files, Does that mean I extract and replace the files in the hakate, atmosphere, and sigpatches to my sd card?

If you want preserve your fuse count on higher firmware, then use autoRCM. AutoRCM get rid of the need of a jig.
So does that mean always enter RCM mode when I turn on my switch and does that also mean I can boot into my clean sysnand using CFW won't get banned playing online?

It will enter RCM mode at boot, if you have something like a trinket m0 if you set something to autoRCM and autoboot a payload it will boot into CFW. As for stock OS, there is a hekate option to boot into Stock OS, but do keep in mind stock OFW, and Sysnand CFW share the same NAND.

Ok so does this mean that my clean sysnand can be opened through hakate using the stock option and this will boot up the switch like it would without RCM?

[Stock (SYSNAND)]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
stock=1
emummc_force_disable=1

Yes as long your sysnand is clean you can boot and play online even booting via Hekate.
