The Vita is just an all around better PSP than the PSP. It officially support remapping of the second analog stick brings about major improvements to many games and the need to do the crawl grip is gone.

You also get a larger, much higher quality screen. Real sticks versus the sliding nub.

The only reasons to stick with a PSP would be to play UMDs, or if you want something extremely portable. Then the PSPGo does make sense as it's smaller than a modern smart phone and can be great to carry around in a pocket instead of a bag.

PSP Go was released way too early and even if I didn't mind it being digital-only, there was another problem: Buttons and the thumb stick were too small. 😕

I'm one of the people that complain about my hands cramping with other handhelds. But for whatever reason the PSP Go feels great. It might be the slide up screen that can distribute some of the weight to my index fingers on the triggers.

But at the time things weren't ready to be digital only. Now with simple CFW installation, it makes it a mute point. The only issue is it using an m.2 card versus microSD. It's possible to install a regular microSD, but it's an internal mod as the m.2 card is about the size of a microSD so an adapter between the two can't be created like the microSD to memory stick adapter for normal PSPs.

personally, I'd get a psp if given those two choices. the ps3 scene sux.
PSP games compared to PS3 are obviously nowhere near as good, sure there are some, but ultimately it's an inferior version.

Split/Second PSP isn't a bad game, it's just inferior and disappointing (PSP's limitations).

Well, I'd rather die than go through the ps3 scene again, biggest waste of my time.

I don't really know how to even answer a question like that without knowing if you intend to be playing it on the go or not. Personally, I would go with the PSP if you have no other choice, but between the two I'd take the secret hidden ending of the PS Vita. PS1, PSP, and PS Vita games all at once. Portable consoles are the best imo, especially for emulation. PS3 hacking has been vastly simplified but if I'm being honest I'm far too fucking lazy to deal with all the finnicky aspects of the PS3's OS. I would just recommend a PSP instead because it's simple, hacked to shit and back, and the emulation is pretty top tier too. Went through entire GBA franchises on my PSP Go back in the day.
