'Made with FUZE' for Nintendo Switch announced; enables FUZE4-developed games to be sold on the eShop

FUZE Technologies, the company founded by GBAtemp's very own @JonSilvera and the creators of the educational coding game FUZE4 on the Nintendo Switch, are back with a new project: Made with Fuze. The latter enables budding developers using the FUZE4 software to market their newly-minted game and earn money from it from the Nintendo eShop.

Accompanying this announcement is the debut Made with Fuze title Super Funky Bowling developed by FUZE4 community member Nathaniel Strub (aka. Scrubz) which was created for a FUZE4 competition.

Super Funky Bowling will be available on the Nintendo eShop from October 14th for $/£/€ 2.99.

That’s kinda cool I’m ngl

I wonder what the process is in order to get your game listed on the eShop

I assume there are arbitrary requirements like having at least x amount of downloads

'newly-minted game'
That wording gives me major crypto and NFT anxiety
Thankfully this isn't one of those projects though.
It's been made by a gbatemp member
Gbatemp's community is, at large, against those
Don't expect them there then

Hey @Aheago, the requirement is only that you need to code a bloody good game, or at least something that shows a high level of promise. It's perfectly possible to do this in FUZE4 Nintendo Switch but it is of course a huge task. What we're doing at FUZE is removing the barriers to actually getting it on the eShop. We handle that part as we're already doing it for ourselves. This means that you don't need a company or a VAT number or the licensing arrangements with asset makers, let alone a development contract with Nintendo or even a dev kit for that matter! We are not greedy either. I cannot give specifics as there are many variables but we are not taking a disproportionate cut or anywhere near it!

So get good, make a game and get it selling on the eShop to a world-wide audience!

What could be easier B-)

I'll code a "Hello World" game, publish it for 1.00$, then buy it myself
I'll see how much "not disproportionate" you are :tpi:

So, I’m not a hater and I was even one of the first people who got the FUZE player from the Eshop. I’m just curious to why you say that you need to be a company to upload games on the Nintendo eshop when the FAQ on the official Nintendo website says you don’t?

Wow, I never thought that Nintendo cared so much for us hackers and pirates... and here I assumed Nintendo hated us all!

I have FUZE4, but even though it's simpler than most programs, it still has somewhat of a sharp learning curve. Also, I have yet to figure out if you can use your own assets in the game, or if you must stick with what's available - one thing I definitely want to know before I delve into programming again.

@Noctosphere .. Erm.. we do retain control over what gets submitted. Mind you, maybe your "Hello World" game will be something really special. Actually, has anyone released a game called "Hello World" before? I wonder what genre it will be and how many hours playtime can we expect. I'm really looking forward to your submission. It's obviously going to be something really special. I just hope it doesn't take too long to write. I do hope you put a lot of time and effort into the gameplay mechanics and level design. I can't wait to see the visual style you create let alone hear the awesome sound track. How exciting.

@City - Maybe i'm over stating things but my point is that you don't even need to contact Nintendo, let alone all the other points regarding dev kits and licensing contract and so on. Write a game, we'll do the rest, and be fair while doing it!

One last question: if I publish a game with you, who owns the game?

I’m very happy that you’re answering everyone in this thread by the way! You give the feeling that you really care about this. Best of luck :)

You own the game. The process of doing this means you enter an agreement with us so that we have the rights to publish it on the eShop. If you then convert the game to run on PS5 and get it approved that would have nothing to do with us. Of course we might consider doing the same but that would have to be with your approval. We're a flexible lot here at FUZE.
