Correct me if I'm wrong, but most countries use the 24hrs time format and DD/MM/YYYY. Admittedly, it makes sense and it's logical.

And in Japan they use YYYY/MM/DD and 24hrs. DD/MM/YYYY reversed. 😆

However, people are free to choose their preferred format, so what's yours?

12hr format and MM/DD/YYYY for me. I have a 3DS and despite not liking the 24hr format I gotta stick with it (doesn't matter much in that case).

I still find it bizarre when people can't do 24 hour clocks. Around here some kids might use them for simplicity but then it changes around 10 or so. Granted some can't tell time from a clock with hands and numbers (never mind Roman numerals) these days.

I wish we were on the 24 hour system, and every nation just used fucking DD/MM/YYYY. It's enough of a headache when there's schedule conflicts due to time zones (another arbitrary thing we need to get rid of) as it is, various countries having their own special snowflake versions of time and date aren't helping.

well, Japan does biggest to smallest. that's how addresses are there as well. Europe does smallest to biggest while America, where I live, doesn't really make sense by comparison. it makes sense to me, but not to most other people in the world.

I use dd/mm/yyyy for things like PC date but if I'm ever organising files that need dates I fall back on yyyy-mm-dd, since that's the only one that'll sort properly in date order.

I have no end of stress for people at work who decide to name files dd.mm.yyyy expecting any kind of rational sorting.

A day has 24 hours so it's not hard to grasp at it, but it's a case of unfamiliarity and not liking it.
My preferred date and time format is YYYY/MM/DD and HH:MM:SS on a 24 hours setup.
For consistency, I see how good that system is (specifically the date).

Consistency and order. Most people like to have their data ordered on a specific way, I use the date as a reference. So that date format makes it a breeze to find things when needed.

As for the time format, yes, a day has ~24 hours, so its easier -at least for me- to come by everyday without having to "reset" the clock every 12 hours.

If you label your files DD.MM.YYYY.ext then sorting them by name will look something like this:

01.01.2018.doc
01.01.2019.doc
01.01.2020.doc
01.02.2018.doc
01.02.2019.doc

It's inconvenient that way. I have to use YYYY.MM.DD for the main utility of sorting files.

Otherwise, to me today is Wednesday, September 28th. I'm almost half way through the week, and September is almost over. I don't care what year it is.

24 hour clock is good with digital/records, but most clocks here are analog 12 hour.

I agree.

I'm using YYYYMMDD (without any other space or char inbetween) for storing purposes, so a set of folders would have a filename like:

20220925
20220926
20220927

And so on. It keeps things easily findable without using the Search feature from the OS.

Also, if the daytime is important I add _HHMMSS into it. So in the last example, folder names would become something like

20220925_135422
20220926_152347
20220927_185825

And so on.

Also 12h time is superior to military time.
How so? Where I am, the media (TV, radio and printed) has been using military time for decades. I am so used to it, I don't need to convert to 12h time in my head. I know right away 21 means 9 PM, or 15 means 3 PM. But the strange thing is that when I speak to someone else, I will say 3 PM and 9 PM. I would never say "I'll see you at 21!" That would be weird.

I use the normal British way, but it's only really an issue when I see something online that doesn't state which system its using. Like an announcement that says "Release date 09/10/22.. is that the 9th of October or the 10th of September???? It's about time there was a universal standard.

We should reject months and convert to a 365.24 day system.
