Also notice that the details of each of the imported roms also shows "meta_title_comment_s_5988_e" instead of the description.

Must be something weird with my Switch?

Frustrating!

That issue means that NSO is not finding the strings file, meaning you didn't copy it to the correct path or at all.

You obviously copied over the lclassics.titlesdb file. And likely the games xtx.z's. I'd assume the sfrom too, as you probably copied over the entire 01008D300C50C000/romfs folder. So... how its not finding the 01008D300C50C000/romfs/bootapp/resources/strings/<language>/strings.lng... My only guess is you are not using the same locale on your switch as you are in CaVE. CaVE defaults to English.

That does not explain the other issue though.

Maybe theres a mismatch between the roms file name and what the database entry is trying to load? S-5988_e.sfrom vs 5988_e.sfrom? There was a change to the standard rom name format in some recent version. It's possible I tried updating CaVE, missed something, and didn't think much about it to remember it at all.

Im really reaching here though. I don't have a clue what it is, if you have truly eliminated the full unlock patch, sfromsig, correct sfrom format, and the console restart. Normally the issue is found far before all of these are checked off. Most of the time its the unlock patch not being placed correctly, or the wrong one installed. Next most common is the console restart being needed. Then its someone selecting the SNESClassic sfrom format by mistake. I have seen an issue with the sfromsig like once. Heck, usually before it gets that far, the person figures out on their own that they didn't do one of the first things correctly, but said they did.

Thanks for trying to assist.

I have just tried the same process on a second Switch that I have access to, and unfortunately same results.

I am going to start from scratch and report back.

update: Retried from scratch. Fresh install of Cave to a new location. New database. Deleted app from Switch. Reinstalled and copied all Cave data across and the patch. Still not working. Both Switch have same problem. Game blinks but not launch, and have missing description.
I am just following the guide linked from your site, not deviating at all, and using latest Cave Database Manager 1.4.x :(

update 2: Retried again from scratch. New database. One single game (7th Saga). This time I built database with English-GB. Now I have the text description working. But, still game does not load, just blinks.

update 3: I see guy below now has same problem

Could this possibly be issue with new 1.4 version? Is it possible I can download previous March version 1.3.7? I have only ever used the new version (no previous database) which I see was released only this week.

Ok. This was a bug that unfortunately was not caught in the past 2 months, and presented like a familiar issue. Sorry.

It was exactly as I said there. If you had removed the "S-" from the sfrom file name, it would have worked. But now you don't need to...

Redownload CaVE v1.4.1 again and from there adding new games should work as expected.

FYI, what has been fixed since I first released this a few days ago...

Fixed Advanced Options selected in ZebraEngine setup not being applied.
Added support for other language naming to ZebraEngine NSPs.
Fixed an error with SNES sfrom files names missing the "S-" tag in the .sfromsig and in the titlesdb entry.

Will this be available for Mac in the future as well?

No. I made a mac and linux version of SFROM Tool, and thats about as far as I care to deal with that stuff. Sorry.

hey this may be asked before but what should i name the .ips folder for the unlock? (\Atmosphere\exefs_patches\???\*.IPS )

It doesn't matter. I just use the folder the ips is in inside the rar, and assume others do too.

So... I have this all set up and working now, and hit problems with the Quintet games.
It seems that even though I have the Robin64 patches and other patches in my sfrom tool patches folder, the ssfrom tool does not automatically apply the fixes I have to do this manually. Is this right?
Terranigma and Illusion of Gaia for example, I had to manually enter the Refresh Start, Scanline Length, and Dot Clock speed.
Is this the case even when patches are in the patch folder undr sfrom tool , or am I missing something?
Also I can't seem to find on the various spreadsheets, where these settings are mentioned against a particular game?
I only found these Quintet settings by searching the 'dead' thread on here ...

The Robin64 patches are just a IPS and a GameCode. They were made for SNESClassic. You are supposed to manually set those settings... hence why they are even mentioned on the compatibility list.

The SNES spreadsheet is listed in the Help menu in cave. If you are thinking you need to set such settings, id assume you already knew that though. For Illusion of Gaia for example, you just hover your mouse over the Green "Switch" cell, and you will see a tooltip with the info.

Thankyou, I see now. I misunderstood I thought that Robins patches automatically applied the Switch settings.

I was also looking at the wrong spreadsheet - "snes mini compatibility list" - instead of "snes vc/cc compatibility". I see the manual settings now when hovering.

Thanks for your help (again!). Great tool btw much appreciated.

Hello, @DarkAkuma

As always, thank you for your time with the great Cave Database app.

I was wondering, if the App version v1.4.1.0 on the site, does support the new Mario Party 1 & 2 update on N64 online? Or does it need to be updated yet.

Thank you in advance for your response.

It does not. Nor does it support the previous version of NSO-N64 (That was v2.7, this v2.8).

The release build is behind the beta build in that regard. Due to a lack of user attention and feedback here, as Im sure I have previously stated, I'm now redirecting my primary focus on the beta build as people in Discord are more responsive. What that means is, while I won't be canceling the public release build... I won't be racing to ensure its updated with the latest features and such updates. Seriously... I have been working to expand it with stuff like Hovercraft and ZebraEngine, but saw barely a blip here. So why bother?

I DID just release the CaVE v1.4.3.0 Beta to my Discord though. And pending some basic feedback, I WILL probably post it as a release build. Was kind of meaning to with the last beta, but never got around to it.

EDIT:

CaVE v1.4.3.0 is now available. It has support for NSO N64 v2.7 and v2.8. (Pilotwings 64 and Mario Party 1 & 2).

Hello. I'm new here, so excuse me if I'm posting in a wrong thread. I need help to find a solution to my problem. So here's what's up: I downloaded the new version of Cave Database and tried to run on my laptop (W11) but the app doesn't start. I tried to look for the reason, but no message erros are generated or any event happens, I litteraly have no clue for the reason it can't boot.
