SetRegion-GUI by wad11656 fix/increase PS1 games compatibility with PSP and PSVita.

SetRegion-GUI by: wad 11656

Convert the region sectors of PS1 .bin disc images (without modifying the game's display resolution).

I want to share with you for those who are interested in playing PS1 on PSP and PSVita Adrenaline a great GUI recently released created by our friend wad11656 who helped me a lot to fix PS1 games on PSP and Vita mainly because they have an incredibly updated compatibility list tenacious, I've never seen anything like it for a mostly solo job like what he did for this list.

But the GITHub page of SetRegion-GUI, by wad11656, is more than a GUI, it's a complete tutorial, didactic and with workarounds so that everything goes as smoothly as possible in an attempt to make a game that doesn't work on portables become functional.

I recommend this excellent work to everyone:

I can't believe it: Thanks to this incredible work, I can finally play Rollcage 2 on my PSP!

All I had to do was to inject the Japanese region into the .bin cd image and then use Game ID SLPS 02191 when converting to PSP format. This is all described in the wonderful compatibility list that is linked in the readme of SetRegion-GUI.

I was referring to exactly that problem, I said it because @The_Ho found several game ids that help with specific problems, maybe with luck some of them solve the problem present in V Rally 2.

I only have mild lag with the default game id (and all the others i tried)--is there anything else that's wrong?
What happens is that I read in your compatibility list the following for this game:

- (CDDA) Mild lag | Car models on Player Options screen occasionally glitched

So I thought that it could be a bit annoying to play this game because of the lag, but if it's not very noticeable, there's no problem.

By the way, analyzing the excell document I can notice that several games have this same lag problem, Do you consider that there is a problem in playing them in this way?, or only in those in which the lag is very severe.

Finally, Do you think that a game id can be found to help reduce or completely eliminate lag in these games?

I played Porsche Unleashed on my PSP for quite a while without noticing any major problems. I didn’t even notice the lag or the glitches in selection screens that are mentioned in the compatibility list.

I have a version of Jackie Chan that was patched by Brill. I think that is the same person that patched Skullmonkeys. Is the Brill version of Jackie Chan the one that was tested in the compatibility list and listed to crash in level 3? I thought the Brill version was working but I never played very long.

The glitched car models on the car select is rare. I've only seen it twice after booting into the game multiple times (once on PSP and once on Vita) so just ignore it

(In the case of Porsche Unleashed, you can prove the lag by comparing with a stopwatch--it gets ~4-5 seconds behind within the 1st lap for me but doesn't matter for most people)

By the way, analyzing the excell document I can notice that several games have this same lag problem, Do you consider that there is a problem in playing them in this way?, or only in those in which the lag is very severe.
I was probably too strict with my analysis of lag in my spreadsheet. You can probably ignore whenever I mention it unless you play the game and it bothers you or it says "unplayable lag"

Finally, Do you think that a game id can be found to help reduce or completely eliminate lag in these games?
SLPS-01222 with JAP region injection helps some games that have severe lag like Gran Turismo 2 and Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider (but doesn't guarantee to "completely eliminate" it)

I think that's the patch that crashes just before the final boss. "Game crashes at end of Factory lvl. 3 before boss" in my compatibility list was referring to the final boss; most of the game in that patch was playable. But the new patch by The_Ho (with Disc-Load Speed set to Fast) fixes the final boss crash (but still doesn't include the FMVs)

Exactly that, the Brill version, in addition to having the HITS count in Russian where I returned it to the original, crashed in the final boss, it took a lot of work to adjust this black screen failure, for many times I thought it was no longer possible, until I noticed a parameter to skip the FMVs that are repeated, except in Factory, when applying the same parameter the problem was solved. About the reproduction of the FMVs, I put the part to watch on PSP or Vita, in video mode, there are few and for now it's like this. I believe it is possible to reproduce the entire game with videos, but in that case maybe only with a complete conversion or maybe we find another Miraculous GAMEID that does this, if it is found it should be cataloged immediately lol :rofl2:

I guess a fix for crashing in Mortal Kombat Trilogy has not been found? The list says all versions crash, even using SLPS02191.
I no-life'd it for some days to test all the Game ID's on this page and this page but they all crashed @ the same spot on PSP 6.61 (so all most likely crash on Vita-Adrenaline too). I also tried "Fast" disc speed on a lot of those Game ID's. The JAP (& PAL) versions of the game crashed too. I think maybe an ISO hack might be required, but then again, of course, there are still many more Game ID's out there that could be tested..

Uh. Yeah sure, you guys are more than welcome to it.

Take it for a spin on like POPS 3.52 or whatever, will work. Not sure if it works on the later POPS.

Looking at the file data, it's been on my memory card since 2014 and the actual EBOOT itself dates back to 2011. I probably downloaded it from some nicoblog or ISOzone or one of these defunct sites.

And no I have it on the vanilla PSP. I don't have a Vita, back in the day it was a piece of crap with a dodgy port of Borderlands 2 and proprietary memory cards and very conditional jailbreaks.
Nowaydays it looks solid, but then nowadays you have Android phones, Switches and Steam decks.

Oh, yes the psp POPS fix is known. Thank you for replying though! I thought rsn8887 wanted a Vita fix, since he said he had already looked at my compatibility list (which already listed POPS 3.52 as a way to work on PSP) but maybe I shoulda confirmed that first
