Nintendo 3DS Sound is one of the only system apps I used frequently on my console. However, with CFW and goods that come possible with it installed it became very inconvenient because it takes a lot of time (~5 minutes!) to look after music files!
My theory is that homebrew-related files are included in the scan making the time that long. Even bare minimum would be a bit much I reckon... I could use homebrew music players but they don't offer the same user-friendly UI as the official app.
Has anyone by some wicked chance looked into modding Nintendo 3DS Music to make it scan only a certain path? I'm no romhacker but maybe I'll inspire someone else to look into that at least.
