Is there a good guide on which H264 and audio encoding formats work on PSTV? I'm finding random variation where some of my MP4 files do work, others don't and it's not obvious why.

EDIT: Found this:

The video file format must be in these settings for the videos to work:

  • Video Codec: H.264 (MP4)
  • Max Picture Size: 1920x1080
  • Max FPS: 29.97 (60 fps won't work)
  • H.264 Profile: Main/Baseline
  • H.264 Level: 4.0
  • Audio Bitrate: Have it the same as the original source so that the audio won't be distorted.
  • Audio Mixdown: Stereo (Dolby won't work)

EDIT 2: Having experimented with Handbrake, these profiles are reliable: 'Very Fast 1080p30', 'Very Fast 720p30', 'Very Fast 576p25'.

I don't know if this means anything, but the one I built is 2KBs larger.

Sorry, what I'm asking is about is MP4 video encoding formats (ffmpeg stuff). Some MP4 files work, some don't. There's probably a specific H264 / audio profile I'm supposed to be working against.

I have an OLED Vita and watching or listening to music thru it isn't something I'd do because the speakers sound pretty low quality, imo. Great screen, though.

The format that I found worked much better was this

- H.264
- 1280x720
- 24 FPS
- H.264 Level: 3.1

One of the sites that weren't blocked on the school's network was some file uploading sites. I would upload some games, write down the URL and take it to school one day.
