Found this on the Nintendo Switch Sports Discord server. Creds to Wipeoutjack7 on there. It's a save edited file though so I'd be very careful trying to use it online.
general searches would say that you will most likely get the switch banned for save editing. and if its linked to more than 1 account, both accounts could get banned in the process aswell.

Nobody should be as stupid and use a modified save online, it's just a matter of time then, especially with a Nintendo title.

If an unbanned console is something worth to you, please resist the temptation, unlock the stuff the normal way and optionally make an emuNAND that stays offline/blocks connection and blanks serial, to modify the savegame there and show off to your friends at a local gathering.
Also, this person you are taking as reference only created the account to say what he did, there's a 50/50 chance he's just trolling.

ugh - I feel sick
I did not want to get my shit banned - I just forgot about the whole ranked thing. I got a save off here back in May (I think), injected into my game, got the gear thinking thinking I wouldn’t play online anyway, and now in August whenever the update dropped I was like «hey, I’ll just play a little online» forgetting about my non-online plan 
I could see the save had played the sports in like ranked mode - something I never did on my actual save/my user, sooo. here I am. ready to vomit 
Is it possible that the ranking will be reset in a short period of time, and then it will be available for online useugh - I feel sick
I mean - there is always a risk when I do anything that is not approved by Nintendo - so if I get banned then I hope they only ban me from online play in that game specifically and not my entire console
I’ve seen others report that in MK8D or Smash they got banned from online play within the game, not the console, so fingers crossed. I am not banned yet, will report back if/when I get banned
Most unrealistic case after getting your account banned, rarely you get a game-specific ban like in ACNH, your console will most definitely be banned altogether.
any update on the status of ur account? i was playing legit for a while but i just fell behind after going away with no wifi for 3 weeks so missed out on some packs and wanted to see if i could get them againI am not banned on/in anything yet, so I guess I’ll have to see
I’m still fine, my Nintendo-account, my Switch and my Sports-account in the game, but there is no guarantee that I won’t get banned at some point in the future
I’ve had the edited save injected since May, but I did change the username before going online with it. someone that datamines said there is nothing in a Sports-save that indicates that a file belongs to a specific user or not, but if that is the truth I wouldn’t know. I can only hope at this point
