I have both a Steam Deck with a 1TB SSD/!TB SD card and a chipped OLED Switch. Both are great for their own reasons. I mostly use the OLED switch for retro gaming since it is lighter and better suited for light load gaming and the Deck is used mainly for triple A heavy games.

Yes, the Deck can do everything the Switch can, but it's not necessarily the best tool for every situation.

But in the end, as far as Nintendo is concerned, they could care less what everyone else does because they will do their own thing and people will buy it regardless of all other considerations.

There is only one man running the family game console business and we all know it ain't Steam Deck. If anything, it is Valve the one who will need to change the game plan if they want to keep their console business.

Deck is probably approaching 1 million units and the insane pre-order queues are finally clearing up. That's why it is hardly a dent in Nintendo's 100 million console. Right now their main handheld competition is themselves, they need to keep making games people want to buy in large numbers, at some point they will need new hardware to keep that up.

And yeah the Deck d-pad in particular is quite disappointing for retro. Switch you can at least attach some decent alternatives from Hori.

Deck is better than the Switch in pretty much all senarios, even running Switch games theres the odd one the Deck struggles yes, but again having a library of literally every NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, PSX, PS2, PSP, Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, and more plus the thousands of games on Steam, Epic, GOG. Believe me Nintendo has noticed and so have Nintendo fan boys(I was one b4 the Deck launched)

Yeah, I don't think it reached a million yet.

Steam Deck is estimated to have sold a total of 77,000 unit by the end of May, in a period of 4 months.

Switch sells roughly that amount in Japan alone in a single week.
Last year the switch sold a rough average of 443,000 units per week worldwide. And that's not even switch at its peak year.

I think nothing further needs to be said just by looking at these numbers.

can people stop this lie already. we get it your desperate to defend your purchasie but lying in order to do it does not make you look good. guess we consider graphic bugs, far more frame drops, and even far lower resolution than switch in order to give it a semblance of playability "better" though. love my steam deck but my god do people love to lie for it
