But, if you just want Zuckerburg to butt out of your life, Firefox and those extensions does the trick.

Firefox gave me problems recently... I tried to change from Chrome, but somehow FF kept giving me security issues with my passwords.

I haven't had any problems with Chrome other than eating up my notebook's resources.

But by far my favourite is Opera on mobile.

I rarely use Internet on my notebook, I browse it mainly in my phone. So... Opera gets my vote.

You might try Chromium. Its the base where a lot of Browser are build on, like Chrome, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave, Yandex, Iridium, Iron and Torch. But with out the tracking stuff. So some site might not work. Also without the features wich the others provide.

Advantages of using Chromium
- Does not track browsing data
- It is open source
- Updates are frequent

Disadvantages of using Chromium
-Need to download and install updates manually
- Missing Flash or Media codecs need to be installed manually.

Privacy:
Collects and transfers less information. Cannot transfer information such as crash reports and usage statistics.

If u like more privacy, use a vpn wich change the extern ip at every new connection to the server and also blocks tracking. Some give you plans over some years for 1€ per month.

Opera got bought by the Chinese in 2016, and there have been a number of concerns about the built in VPN doing its own tracking.

^ exactly this. I also have AdblockPlus installed just for quick and easy disabling of ads, images, and similar page elements on a per site basis.
Add to this a script manager like Greasemonkey (I use Violentmonkey) for handy improvements to frequently visited sites (one of my fave scripts being IMDB Scout - which gives you torrent/streaming/etc links to all entries on IMDB).
And Brave search engine.

I use firefox, not for the privacy, but when I was using a really bad pc it was the fastest. I don't know if it is the fastest now, but my current pc do not struggle anymore, and I got used since then.

I use it on my phone to just for the sake of having my tabs sync across devices (not that firefox is awesome on that, but it works in the end)

I don't think the risk of anyone snooping on me is worth going out of my way to inconvenience myself. I just stick with Firefox. I use uBlock Origin and FB Purity mostly because I despise ads.

I also have AdblockPlus installed
I thought everyone had switched over to uBlock Origin because of ABP was engaged in shady business practices?

I use Brave not exactly because it claims to be the best for privacy, but it got me with the incentive of currency reward although I don't care much about that anymore. Brave as a browser, it's really good and well built... Well, it's a Chrome-based browser.

I've got Chrome installed on the PC to make purchases with cashback so the tracking, ads and all are permitted (otherwise cashback wouldn't track).

Yes, I use uBlockOrigin as my primary blocker, but have ABP installed (with everything disabled) and just use it for simple element blocking (things like nsfw banners/images/etc on sites I often have open while at work), then I can just turn ABP off if I'm browsing in a "safe" environment and have all those elements reinstated.

If u like privacy, use a other DNS resolver instead google. If they cant resolve the adresse, they cant sent data. There are a lot out there wich offer add blocking and tracking protection.

But there is another effectiv way to achive this. U need a domain blocker in your network wich act as DNS resolver. Pi-hole is such a blocker wich can combined with unbound as DNS resolver. It can be run on raspberry pi. You can add there blocking list like in add blockern. And able to monitor each outgoing connection, to block them, whitlist them or what ever. Blockada on Smartphones work this way, too.

Is https everywhere still needed? I used to use it, but Firefox has it's own HTTPS-only mode now.

I wouldn't trust Opera, as it is one of the main reasons the Wii was hacked lol. Like I said Tor is the most secure browser. However, because of Tor's slowness, I actually use a browser called Brave, a chromium browser that is fast, as well as private.
