Can anyone give me some news regarding the english translation of SRW4 for SNES and SRW Alpha for PSX. The author's site (AGTP) has not been updated for a long time,Twitter has no information about them, and I don't have the Discord application to check if there is any recent news there. I know the author does not want to be asked questions about it. Have these projects perhaps been abandoned permanently? It would be a real shame, a great disappointment for all fans of the revered srw series.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks.

4th Super Robot Wars (第4次スーパーロボット大戦 Dai-4-Ji Sūpā Robotto Taisen), stylized as Super Robot Wars IV, is a Super Robot Wars game released for Super Famicom on March 17, 1995. The game was ported to the PlayStation as The 4th Super Robot Wars Scramble, and later received a remake divided in two parts: Super Robot Wars F and F Final.

Hi @Creamu, how are you? But what you wrote has nothing to do with what I asked! Re-read the title and content of this thread, and put on your reading glasses this time, LOL. 😂
Hello @Nikokaro. All is well! How are you? I stumbled across your thread and wondered what SRW4 is. I did my research and shared my findings in case anyone else is wondering. Is this the game that you hope is being translated?

I'm fine, thank you. That's one of the 2 titles I'm interested in. The other one is for PlayStation 1. The famous romhacker (Gideon Zhi) was translating them and about SRW4 he was well on his way but then he didn't release any more updates. Maybe some users here are in contact with him and can tell me something about them.

I hope that someone will be able to contact him and clarify the situation. Hopefully there will be a chance in seeing a release of this translation.

It this comparable to famicom wars? In what way do they differ?

The gameplay is similar. It is a tactical-rpg, with a plot divided into chapters, and dense dialogues between main characters. Those are pilots of robots from anime of the 70s/80s/90s (Mazinger, Getter, Gundam, L-Gaim etc.) who face enemies from the respective series, teamed up to threaten the safety of our dear planet. 👽 😱
Lol.

That is good. You can put your war literature knowledge to work in these games (although in famicom wars you will be fine with mostly zerg rushing). Is there alot of plot in these games, because I do not care for that, all I want is the war. What title would you recommend for famicom wars enjoyers?

Maybe the plot is inspired by the lunar forces that occupy japan and threaten to destroy it.

It depends on whether you prefer the cruder and simplistic graphics or the more modern and elaborate ones. SRW 3 for SNES is translated into english, has little dialogue, and the graphics are simple but colorful. SRW J for Gameboy Advance is translated into english, the graphics are much richer, the dialogues are long but the plot is exciting. The protagonist series are more recent.
Finally SRW A Portable for PSP is even more beautiful and engaging, better animations, complex and articulate plot, and fights with full Japanese voice acting. While the first 2 are small in size (3 and 32mb respectively) this one takes up more than 1gb of space.

Hello fellow Creamer,

with famicom wars I have made the observation that it is easy to zerg rush the enemy. Is this the same in this series?

I could answer if I knew what "zerg rush" means ... 🤔
Well, I looked on Wikipedia and it describes it as a kind of "blitzrieg" tactic.
Nope, in this series a certain nerve-wracking, slow and elaborate strategy is required, of gradual approach to the enemy to wipe them out one by one, lastly the most skilled boss. :gun:

Zerg rush means that you attack your enemy as fast and with as much low cost units as you can effort.

I have decided to periodically bump this thread until I get a satisfactory answer. Is it ever possible that I am the only fan of the SRW series around here? Is no one else interested in these titles and can give me some news about their translation?

I was wondering the same thing so I went onto their discord and got yelled at because I asked about it. I hate to say it but they are a bunch of jerks. So I never got a update or anything because they don't like people asking...sorry I couldn't help more...

Sorry about this periodic bump. Does anyone have recent news about these two translations, or other english translations of the series in the works? Thank you.

P.S. I almost suspect that the authors, reading this thread of mine, decided not to release their patches publicly, for the sole purpose of spite me, alas. 😅
