A console can never emulate itself, as emulation requires BETTER hardware than the target console. If you have a more powerful console or a powerful PC, then and ONLY then you can emulate a console.
somebody doesnt know how hardware emulation works or virtualization. to put it simple since it has the hardware an emulator wouldn't actually emulate

how do you see the Steam Deck changing the Console market in particular in relation to Nintendos plans to potentially releasing a new console in the coming years?
Not really going to change the market at all, really. Nintendo has been doing their own thing since the Wii era and away from the whole console war thing. So if they don't care about Sony and Microsoft, why would they care about the Valve and its Steam Deck? Besides, the Steam Deck is more on the side of PC gaming market rather than the console market. Even Valve said that they aren't trying to compete with the Switch because they're targeting a completely different market (PC gaming). Not to mention, it's only officially available by buying from Steam and then waiting months for your own unit to be shipped. Not every casual gamer would want to wait that long. Meanwhile the Switch is already readily available in plenty of retail stores all around the world and easy to use without much hassle.

They cared about the genesis.
Besides, the Steam Deck is more on the side of PC gaming market rather than the console market.
Well it is a handheld.
Even Valve said that they aren't trying to compete with the Switch because they're targeting a completely different market (PC gaming).
They are being modest.

Okay, so Steam Deck users are people who can wait.

Joysticks that don't quickly break from even light, casual use would be nice.
You are more imaginative than that.

I did mention "since the Wii era", yes?
Well it is a handheld.
Yeah, a handheld gaming PC. Hence, "PC gaming market".
They are being modest.
Of course they are. But it makes sense considering how specialized the Steam Deck is made, so the needed parts and components would take a lot more time and work needed. Especially with the ongoing parts shortages.
That's how much people want it.
Sure, but not as much or as fast as the Switch is still currently selling. Which, again, availability of the Steam Deck is a lot less considering it can only be sold on Steam and not in any physical retail shops globally around the world like the Switch does.
Okay, so Steam Deck users are people who can wait.
If you put it like that, then sure.

Either way, I don't see the Steam Deck changing much of anything within the console gaming market. Let alone make Nintendo worry about it at all since the Switch is still selling really well. They're more worried about keeping their current Switch playerbase for the next console than the Steam Deck itself. lol
The Steam Deck instead is making its own waves in the PC gaming market space with Aya NEO and such trying to compete against the Steam Deck.

Oh you did yeah. hehe... Maybe they should care? Maybe they will?
Yeah, a handheld gaming PC. Hence, "PC gaming market".
A handheld gaming PC... that seems like a artificial differentiation.

Give it some time.
If you put it like that, then sure.
Yes, the steam deck users right now are only the patient ones.

For now.

Yes, but maybe at that point the Steam Deck will be big in japan and when they tank the next console it's really gonna hurt them real bad.

Was on my Switch everyday b4 I got my Steam Deck. Sat outside waiting on launch day in -20 degree temps for my Switch. Now my Switch sits collecting dust due to lack of any worth while games the last while, only game to look forward to is BOTW 2. Just nice being able to run basically any game from any generation when the mood strike. Twilight princess HD? Yup. Skyward Sword HD? Yup. Link to the Past, with orcastra audio and FVM opening cut scence mod? Why not. The entire Resident Evil Collection available when the mood strikes. Pretty much every Metal Gear Solid game out there minus #4. I'm a Nintendo fan since 1989 and loved my Switch, but I'm sorry with a lack of any new worthwhile software the Switch just seems stagnant. Nintendo really needs to do something with the Switch 2 or what ever they decide to name it

it really doesn't. it effects it as much as portable pcs always have which is not at all. steam deck is not the first or even the strongest. but of course people like usual have to play into the childish console wars

It doesn't...

You guys are the vast minority of gamers who have the time (for emulation and etc), money and live in a country where the steam deck is available...aside that they aren't competitors like many said before, or can you dock the steam deck? Oh so it's just a handheld and a PC gaming handheld that costs what 3x the price of switch?

In what world those 2 products are competitors?
