It mentions PS1 so it should work as long as it's indicated.

As for the USB, PS3 uses 2.0 so it's a question of testing it out. I have a 16GB stick (might be 1.0) fine for small stuff though big files it takes quite a while whereas a 3.0 USB formatted to FAT32 runs fairly fast or as fast as USB 2.0 allows.

I personally wouldn't run games off a USB unless it was super tiny, like the Samsung 128GB connected to my PS2 Slim (well, I've not seen it in a year so hopefully it's still there).

Do you think PSN links will be removed (and so, PSNDL's and NoPayStation's links too) in the future and because of that it's better if one buys the physical edition and not the digital one?

Do you know if folder file format/.iso games have more lag if running from USB than from internal HDD or when compared to game discs or .pkg games?

Also, do you think PSN links will be removed in the future and because of that it's better if one buys the physical edition and not the digital one?
I think physical releases are safer long term, however don't patches... You might want to download and save all the patches.

The USB is going to be slower than internal HDD, however I stopped using the internal HDD years ago and instead switched to ps3netsrv streaming from a NAS. I have a vague feeling that I even converted all the ISO to redump's encrypted format too.

Why shouldn't I patch? Is it possible to bypass updates?

It's straight from PlayStation so there's that possibility. I've downloaded the arcade games I wanted from there although it has a lot of DLC I might have forgotten.

Patches are what will eventually become unavailable when Sony shuts down PS3's online service and then it'll have to be downloaded manually. I honestly don't like archiving patches, but in PS3's case they're finalized so they're worth preserving if folks have the space.

What do you mean by "arcade"?

Does that mean the games will have bugs again since the patches were removed?

Games only released on the PSN.

PS3 games even without patches tend to be just fine and perfectly playable.

I remember a glitch/bug in GTA IV where Niko became invisible and it was awesome, e.g. the bike was driving itself and when shooting it was a semi-fps. lol

One can't update a game if not having a PSN account?
