This is mentioned on the page about PicHaxx
https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(pichaxx)

The only reason to permanently keep it would be if you are using it as a userland homebrew entrypoint without CFW (which has some serious limitations and will make some GBAtemp members grab their virtual pitchforks).

Why are you using such old methods for Homebrew? Just install Luma CFW and you're golden. You can run anything you want.
Because it's the main method to install homebrew in 3ds.hacks.guide?

What even is the "newer" method? Of course you're going to resort to alternate methods, such as ntrboot once the eShop closes, but until then, this is the easiest one to do.

While Pichaxx might also be an userland exploit, it is also a way to install B9S and then Luma.

NTRBOOT is by far the easiest method. It's safe and fool-proof. And once you have it setup, you can do an entire stack of 3DS systems in just a few minutes.

Yeah, the problem is that the program to flash ntrboot to flashcards is crappy and even though I follow every single word of the guide and have a compatible cart, it still says that it failed to install FIRM. No matter what.

What cart do you have? I have an R4i 3DS Gold (RTS) (the last version before the Plus version came out. Rev D, I think.)
