I updated to 14.0.0 using Daybreak. Everything is broken now.

Trying to install the new Mario Kart DLC. I installed the latest Atmosphere, just copying and pasting over everything I already had, then used Daybreak with the official 14.0.0 update.

Now, NOTHING loads. Everything comes up with 'Unable to start software. Return to HOME Menu and try again."

Then it comes up with corrupted data.

What did I do? Is there a way back?

Did you update sigpatches?
Sigpatches (GBATemp) — alternative Sigpatches for when others don’t seem to work.

I've never had to do this before the entire time I have owned a Switch. Is this a new thing?

14.0.0 is the highest firmware that Atmosphere supports, right? I just didn't want to lock myself out entirely, and I can still access homebrew. I just can't use any of the NSP/XCI files I installed.

Yes, you need them when you update FW. Might as well go latest for everything while we’re here.

https://rentry.org/MigrateToAtmosphere1_0_0

And then go with 14.1.2 FW which is Supported by Atmosphere 1.3.2

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
