About time. I'm just glad everyone can move on now, and stop worrying about all this BS on the "format war."

Completely True. Not that I care either way (DVD IS FINE!) but hell, at least we can look forward to larger storage sizes for backuping up all our rom/program collections in a couple years!

Yes. Which is why Blu-Ray (without the E) has three different profiles (1.0, 1.1 & 2.0), some incompatible with one another. More DRM, more DRM problems. And they're finally getting features like on-board ethernet that was HD-DVD standard in the first place. Oh, and regional encoding, yay.

Just for that month, 360 is still winning overall in terms of sales, though PS3 is catching up slowly.

I guess it's good to see this thing resolved although I don't see myself moving to Blu-Ray any time soon, especially since I don't have an HDTV. It'll probably be another couple years until Blu-Ray becomes the standard and you never know what else could emerge by that time.

I don't like how the Bluray spec is changing. These "Profiles"... 1.0/1.1/2.0/etc

You stick to a standard. My neighbor has a very old DVD player since he was an early adopter, and brand new DVDs still work fine. (DVD+/-Rs don't work, but they weren't as available then)

I don't like how consumers are being forced into beta testers, especially since they just want to watch their damn movie. Early adopters get screwed over with pricing, everyone knows that. They shouldn't get screwed over with functionality.

Personally, I don't care about the improvements over DVD (besides resolution of course) Most people just want to watch the movie.

I'm not investing in Bluray until the damn API or whatever is frozen.

(HD Downloads are alright, but I still prefer a physical copy over a DRM file. No DRM is a totally different story...)

Egh, great. Finally a player that is regionfree and they kill it. No big suprise I suppose considering the companies who release movies make a fuckton by asking double the amount of money for the same product in Europe compared to what they ask in the US (and they wonder why people pirate). Asshats.

Meh, I'd say we ignore the whole thing and just stick to dvd, I don't think the cost is worth the improvement in quality anyway.
