Hi everyone! All of a sudden my 3DS can't enter DS mode! When I open a game-application, that runs in DS mode, the screen flashes white for a second and it throws me on the system shutdown screen. I tried loading original cartilagees, Twilight Menu++, and even the DS network connections on the settings. All gave me the same behavior. I also tried the TWLFix-CFW fix but to no avail.

One more thing I just tried but unfortunately also did nothing is ctrtransfer... If you are facing the same problem you can also give it a try but it did nothing for me. I'm
starting to think it's a hardware issue 🙁

Update! The problem is not fixed but I noticed something interesting. After letting the 3DS on for a long time, DS games did boot. However after a restarting, the problem persists.
Could that indicate a capacitor failure?

No one's ever suggested "capacitor failure" in a 3DS before. I don't think the 3DS even really has the kind of capacitors that would be expected to fail.

Since you've already used twlfix, I am tempted to suggest nvram flashing? There have been a couple of threads about that. I really don't know if that would help here, though.

They are not the leaky ones, no. But every capacitor has a lifetime. They are usually rated for 10 years but often work much longer. You can see this with Game Boys. They pretty much all have bad capacitors now causing power issues.

That said i don't expect capacitor failures even on the launch day 3DS yet.

Can't say I've heard to that problem in Game Boys. Regardless, those would be electrolytic capacitors instead of solid/polymer capacitors. Or at least, I'd expect them to be more likely to be affected by the capacitor plague.
