Hey guys,

I need some advise and some help.

I got four PS VItas that has been put away for years. Now, when I got some free time, I thought it would be interesting to hack them.

If i remember correctly (they are still in the basement in some box somewhere) three of them are on 3.60 and one is on 3.61.
One of the 3.60 ones is hacked way back with.. Henkaku.. maybe?

But what would you do with the rest of them?
I´ve tried to read but it's so much information about all the different firmwares and hacks.
Is 3.60 still the "best" firmware to be on? Best compatability with homebrew? Guess some newer games won't work right?

Also, is it correct that Enso the only way to "permanently" hack (so it's hacked straight way even after a reboot) the PS Vita?
And Enso only works on 3.60? If I go to 3.65, 3.70, 3.74 or whatever, there are no permanent hack like Enso? It has to be "re-hacked" every boot?

Trinity requires a PSP-game, demo or whatever to work? And the requires online which could be a problem? (<- Not worth the hazzle?)
h-encore² has a bad success rate? (<- Not worth the hazzle?)

Are there any big advantages to go to a higher firwmare than 3.60 (besides some games I guess that won't run on 3.60)?

Sorry, I guess this has been answered a million times already, but there is just a jungle of information.
And what makes it extra hard is that some say that and another say the opposite which makes my brain dizzy.

Thanks!

I skimmed the post, so I'll answer what I saw. enso can be installed on 3.65 as well. 3.60 is generally considered the golden firmware. you can play the latest games with 0syscall6 or even ref00d plugins. neither is really any better than the other now that ref00d got an update last year. the keys have not changed for later firmware, all both do is remove the firmware checks iirc.

Thank you very much!

Didn't know that Enso worked on 3.65..

But you are telling me that all firmwares are basically the same today?
Most games, homebrew and so on works on all firmwares?

But there are still no way to get a permanent hack (like Enso) on newer firmwares?
So with that in mind, 3.60 or 3.65 would be the best solution with least amount of manual work each boot (no need to trigger an exploit each time)?

that would be your best solution, yes. 3.60 especially, since you don't need to make a psn account to get the aid, which you'd have to update to do so.

Perfect, thanks!

But the one on 3.61.. What would you do with that one? Is it possible to run like Modoru to go back to 3.60 and be able to skip the step with PSN account somehow easy?

Read some guide about 3.65 and h-encore that "Your device must be linked to PSN but it doesn’t need to be activated".
Does that mean I need to have been connected to PSN on that actual device before? It´s not possible to install 3.65 today and link to PSN right?

If that's true I have to update to 3.74 just to be able connect to PSN? And then what? I can use h-encore² or use Modoru to go back to 3.60?

Sorry for all these questions. But if I get the above right I think I'm ready to go.

you can downgrade from 3.74, but yes, I believe you have to update just to get your account id unless you already have it. if you have a cma id, it's really the little endian of the account id (i.e. byte reversed). if you have that, you should be able to block updates with qcma, and perform the exploit there. however, I know of nothing that's for 3.61, so you'll probably have to update anyway. there's a way to update directly to 3.65, but it's a bit complicated, and it requires qcma anyway, which may or may not work in this instance or without an account id.

Ok thank you again man. Really appreciate all your help!

I'm quite sure I created an account on the first 3.60 unit and (maybe?) activated it (not sure what this means really, if it's mandatory or not). I remember connecting and installing some PSP-demo (think is was the Ape something game..). Also the QCMA feels like something I have done.. (this was many years ago).

Can I use "this" somehow on the 3.61 unit? Can I export the PSN-account or similar on the working 3.60 unit and import it on the 3.61 unit? Or do I need all this info (CMA ID and so on) backuped before on my PC? I guess in theory I can use the same PSN account on all four Vitas?

I doubt it, because the offsets for apps would be different, and it goes from 3.60 to 3.65. I'd suggest just updating to 3.74, and doing the exploit there to downgrade. I have no experience with it. I've been on 3.65 before, and I was able to downgrade to 3.60. pretty painless process. the modoru/downgrader has been updated to 3.74, so you won't have a problem.
