Hello, I am currently interested in hacking my Xbox 360 after having hacked all the Nintendo consoles I had at hand. However, I've seen that hacking the Xbox 360 is much more complicated. I've heard about flashing the disk, chipping the motherboard, X360KEY, Wasabi 360, Horizon for Xbox 360, JTAG ... I don't understand any of this, and I'd like to know if in 2022 there is a simple but cheap way to hack

No soft mods if that's what you're asking.

What are the chances of softmod happening for Xbox 360?

I bought plenty of digital and physical games, but having it unlocked sure would be nice.

Slim to none.

Nobody cares enough for it to happen (same for Xbox One). And i'm not saying a softmod is possible either (at this time).
If it didn't happen when the console was still in its eol, then probably we won't see one any time soon..

there's not too many reasons to hack the 360 now imo, not with bc on the series x. though, it's not complete bc. it's a solid system for what it is, but that's how I feel about it. mine is only used for testing now. not sure why, but I bought a wifi adapter for it (boy is that cable short). with a phat, you pretty much have to plug it in the front due to how short the cable is. I also bought the perfect length (1.5ft) cable for my usb hdd. everything works, and has worked for like 14 years. knock on wood, but it's never needed to be repaired. beat final fantasy xiii and lords of shadow on it as well as braid a very long time ago. good memories. :D

btw, speaking of those, the entire final fantasy xiii trilogy is in 4K on the series x. also, at least, lords of shadow 2 is available (not sure about 1) iirc.

speaking of castlevania, both lords of shadow are playable on the series x. they're on sale on the xbox store. the first one is 67% off, and the second is 75% off, so I got both for about $15. the sale ends in a week according to the store. you may have to have xbox gold. neither game seems to be on gamepass.

In 2022, it's very easy to hack an Xbox 360. Some hackers flash the disk, etc. -- and the console is hacked.
Opening up the hardware, flashing it, etc isn't necessarily hard, but it's not "very easy" or fast.

A PS3/PS4 takes just a few minutes to install HEN or CFW.

Xbox 360...

Can anyone help me please. I have a Xbox 360 slim hard drive. I want to be able to use the hard drive to watch movies and listen to music. However I want it on the hard drive that goes into the console. The console it's for will not be connected to the internet. Thanks

You can already do that as it is.

However, Xbox 360 only recognizes old formats (legally at least) so for videos it's AVI/MP4 and audio it's MP3.

I've bought Android TV Boxes and vastly prefer them over using a console for the media player features.

I've been trying to do it and I cannot get it to work. I change the format of a film or music put it on the usb plug it into the Xbox to transfer onto the hard drive and it shows that nothing is there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Xbox 360 is of the FAT32 era so that's the USB format you should use.

Now, changing the extension (format) of a video file does not mean it'll work, so you'll have to actually convert it.

XMedia Recode is great for lossless and conversion copies: https://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/download.php

It has multiple profiles so I'm guessing there's an X360 profile, too.

So if I down load the Xmedia recode on my pc that'll convert everything I want to put on the hard drive into the correct format? Then I add it to the usb and insert it and should be able to transfer from that to the Xbox and watch/listen to them? It's all a little confusing to me to be honest. I'm trying to do it to help a friend.

Yes, you convert the file, transfer to the USB and then watch.

Converting feels like a waste of time to me as an Android TV Box is a lot better and plays nearly all (with MX Player or VLC).

indeed. might be better, if you don't have a nvidia shield or similar, just to use a series x. when you plug in an hdd, it asks if you want to format to xbox format or media. choose media. you can use ntfs this way, and just download an app that can play videos, and you're all set. none of this conversion or whatever bs.

Yeah I get that android boxes are easier however it has to be on the Xbox harddrive. It won't have any internet access. And an android box or any other usb etc etc isn't going to work in my situation unfortunately.

One of those boxes are fairly cheap these days and a 128GB stick is also (my favorite combination), but if you want to solely use the 360 then you'll have to convert them unless it's really old encoded videos then they might work.

Try it with WMV(Unprotected), Mpeg4, H.264, or AVI

But to sum it up: The xbox 360 is not a good choice as a media player these days:teach:
