Not sure how they did it, but that’s what they did:

I installed the Companion Edition, but only Portal 1 appears to be there. Do you have to download 2 separately? That would explain the small file size.
not according to everything I’ve been reading, but maybe you’re right and it’s going to be DLC?
This looks to be exactly correct:
so the answer to OP is…well…it’s not really any different to Portal and Portal2. It’s literally downloading two games.
