Okay, so I have a weird issue where after a certain time after winning a battle, Fates just… stops updating the day/night cycle and remains stuck on that time of day, even when the day itself has changed.

I’ve edited the RTC a lot and have even set it backwards, but nothing I do seems to stick and I don’t know what the problem might be. How do I fix it?

Well. is this perhaps a anticheat function that nintendo put in place to freeze all RTC features if the clocks get changed at all?

Actually it's just speculation over your situation but it's totally a possibility
Thanks. I've opened up my 3DS, and it remained stuck at Evening time for my saves. It's bizarre, because it cycled through time earlier. I think this started a month ago when I ended up messing with the RTC beforehand.

Is it possible that the battery has something to do with this?

I let my battery die. Even now, exactly four cycles after it started, the time gates locked up. WTF is happening?

I admit that I went back in time with my RTC, but even then this shouldn't be happening.

Some games like Yo-kai ones punish the user when RTC change is detected. After you load your save data, It pops up that you have to wait for X days to use the functions based in time again (in this case crank-a-kai).

Maybe things works properly again after you wait some days.

Oh, the weird thing is, it progresses for 24 hours and then just stops. I also got zero notification for that; I can access online just fine, so I'm kind of at a loss.

Does Fates punish RTC clocks? Can somebody confirm?

I would like to help you, but I really don't know how.

If I were you, I would try to dump all your saves using Checkpoint (just in case), and restore a NAND backup before the RTC changes (wich caused the bug), probably should work. Another try: a Tiny format. But, zero guarantee for both methods.

How do I use 3DS SysNAND and TinyFormat?

There's no secret, you only have to download the homebrew and runs it.

I don't remember although if you have to reinstall tickets or rename the 3ds folder to your games appear again on Home Menu.

Wait. That’s a thing?
It has been a thing historically. If you change the date back in the Pokemon GBA games clock events will not occur until the date has passed the original date it was set to before you changed it. I'm pretty sure Animal Crossing does something similar.
The Switch has a "real time" that you can't change, when you change the clock it's pretty simple for a game to detect this by comparing this "real time" to the clock time you've set.
Can't tell you for sure if that's what's happening here.

So I ended up doing the game manually and doing all the time events, and when I close the game and let it run for a while, it suddenly advances again. Which is really weird, but I can live with it.

So let's just say that the Raw RTC was at 2024 while the RTC clock was at 2022 when it first began happening. If I went back in time to make the Raw RTC 2022, would that mean that the clock would have to wait until 2024 for it to resync?

Depends how the game implemented it, maybe.
