ok, going to anywhere.

can you please show us the content of the file "SD:\emuMMC\emummc.ini"

ps. What payload do you normally inject?
Okay, in inside the emummc folder and emummuc.ini (that I opened with text), it says
[emummc]
enabled=1
sector=0xb3c8000
path=emuMMC/RAW1
id=0x31574152
nintendo_path=emuMMC/RAW1/Nintendo

And i normally inject Hekate ? I think? or the fusee.bin that comes with atmos. I got it absolutely scrambled trying to fix this

Then by now we can tell this:
  • You have a EmuNAND as RAW partition, not working, going to black screeen after atmosphère logo.
  • Your Hekate config is something messed up but normally you don't use it.
  • your SYSNAND is working fine an loads if you don't go to RCM and inject a payload.

at first look you emunand get damaged somehow nothing comes to my mind, but @binkinator could enlighten us a bit.

a firts test could be reinstall to your SD card new downloaded Hekate and Atmosphere from GitHub to discard a damaged file.

When reinstalling atmos and hekate do i reinstall swotch, hbumenu.nro, and payload.bin or only the two folder bootloader and atmosphere ?

Please describe to us, step by step what normally you do to start your console. thanks.
Okay!
First off I shut it down
After that i inset the jig on the right side and pree own on the plus and the power button, then release
Then the heakte ipl logo comes on and im on the hekate menu,
after that i go to payloads and i click on the only one available (I think it was fusee.bin),
after that it'd normally show two atmosphere logos and then i'd be in my cfw home menu
That's how i did it

perfect you miss a step:

After pressing power + VOL+ what you do to send payload to console?

do you use a device, a phone, a computer or your console have a internal chip?
oh sorry, I use a little device i purchased on amazon (dongle) that's used to send payloads, I've already put fusee.bin or hekate.bin (dont remember which one) before injecting it

Ok, perfect, that dongle is the injector. normally you need to update it too.

but looking on your description you have hekate_ctcaer_X.X.X.bin on your injector. since versions 5 hekate payload look for a updated version on SD and load the most recent version so technically you don't need update the payload.

it seems really a damage on you SD. a test can be done:

make a backup of all your files on SD on your computer.

format the main partition as Fat32, uncompress hekate and atmosphere zip files on the sd.

copy only the file SD:/bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini and emuMMC folder from your backup to your SD card.

start again your console and test.

I just wanted to check I’m doing things right before going ahead with CFW.

I’m using this guide https://rentry.org/EristaEmuNAND.

I’ve formatted my sd card to fat 32 with rufus and I’m mindful that I need to firstly do a nand dump Using hekate.

I started to follow the above guide extracting hekate, atmosphere, and the other files to the root of my sd card, as well as setting up the various ini files for blanking the switch info and blocking the servers.

I’ve done the first 3 steps but not setup the emunand on the sd card. I stopped because I thought about the nand backup.

The section of the guide for backing up the nand suggests doing so before using CFW. So, seeing as I’m setting up those ini files to block various things eg the switch info, should I not firstly..

1) On a freshly formatted sd card, tranfer Hekate and run it and backup the nand, making sure that my switch is not online.

2) Then follow the above guide and setting up the emunand.

Is that the correct approach bearing in mind that I want to use my sys nand for eshop access and online play and the emunand for home brew.

cheers guy

Whether or not the console is online during an eMMC backup is irrelevant because the backup is done outside of the Switch's operating system aka Horizon. Meaning, your console wouldn't be online when you are backing up your eMMC. Same goes for setting up emuMMC as that is also done outside Horizon but making sure its online before setting up emuMMC is a good idea since the emuMMC you will make is initially a copy of sysMMC so if your sysMMC is offline before you create emuMMC, your emuMMC in turn will also be offline.

Thanks!

I just want to see if I’m understanding this correctl.

1) So I assume when you say online you are just refering to connection detail being setup on Switch OS. When the nand backup is done it will be a online nand dump then?

2) The emunand is a copy of my online sysnand then and hence the reason for exosphere, and the blocking of the Nintendo servers and switch info.

3) So booting to the emunand will I assume boot me into the Switch OS but the switch will run from the emunand. Even though my connection details will be present and internet will be on, the various ini files will block the internet.

with that said please just give me a quick list of the order I should do things if possible.

You’ve answered many questions for me before but the deeper I dig it seems I confuse my self when I think I have it sussed

Maybe I should just take the plunge 😬

Thank you!
