You need to be more specific, give some examples, and for what game system you are going to play on?
Sonic games are about speed and are fast-paced, but are they stylish action games? Not sure..
Contra games, it's more about technique than speed, but it's damn satisfying when you finally get into the "zone"..

Oh yeah, kinda like those. Are there games similar to those? I think I meant more like 3D Mario games where you use your your arsenal of moves to go fast, but not just holding forward to go fast, you know what I mean? Diving, wall kicking, longjumping. Something like that.

So Mario games are speed, fast-paced action games?
Anyway, have you seen the latest Kirby game "Kirby and the Forgotten Land"? it's just like Mario Odyssey but with Kirby..
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, they're 3D games, but it's linear and more basic in comparison to Mario Odyssey, there's no huge open areas to explore or anything.. Same for Spyro Reignited Trilogy..
Cuphead is 2D, though it might be a tough challenge..

The Gunvolt games are pretty neat if you want something similar to Mega Man X. The other Inti Creates titles such as the Blaster Master Zero series are mostly good as well.
I've actually been meaning to play the Gunvolt games and I haven't played the sequels to Blaster Master Zero, but I loved the first game. And the Mega Man Zero and ZX games are also pretty good too.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
