Nintendo Switch Online NES and SNES for May 2022 revealed

More retro games are on the way to Nintendo Switch Online. Headlining the handful of NES and SNES titles right at the tail-end of May is Pinball for the Nintendo Entertainment System, alongside Congo's Caper and Rival Turf! for the Super Nintendo. These three games are available now for subscribers to any tier of Nintendo Switch Online's service. Those in Japan can expect to see Umihara Kawase instead of Congo's Caper in the lineup.

Surely Nintendo has heard the criticism at this point, I wonder if this is just truly as good as they can do as far as securing rights and such go.. Probably not.

Rival Turf?
That's the wrong Rival Turf!

Rushing Beat Ran is the only Rival Turf game that should be played.

Congo's Caper is a nice platformer though.

But still... I wonder why people pays for old games that you have easy access to... for free...

I don't personally sub to it. But I think people mainly sub to it for the online, and cloud storage. The NES/SNES games are just a bonus, and just there. Also, it's super cheap.

Sony and Microsoft gave out AAA games to their subscribers, Nintendo gives you 30+ years game that people don't even want to play for free on emulators. I seriously think that the management at Nintendo are delusional - they think that people are still in love with their old games. They think that those old games are assets but they are just trashy roms that can be found in the back alley of the internet.

Actually some do love Nintendo originals. It's never the same without the Nintendo stamp. This group may be small but they could be rich. People who grew up with Nintendo toys probably have a higher income level than those that didn't.

Idk why, but having Nintendo throw out games that nobody has heard of is actually something that is good IMO. And knowing that some people have rented these games back in the day, shows that the NSO app is more like a rental service
