I remember when it came out, Second-hand Nintendo Swiicht Cartridges that blocked the console because they had been used in a pirated console, now there is no risk of completely bricking the console and leaving it as a paperweight without being able to be repaired?

Bricking was never a thing and carts can't be blacklisted

It is never safe to use custom firmware and pirate games. You can get console banned, you can mess up updates, some people horribly went wrong on downgrading (don't do it). There is no such thing as safe hacking.

Unless you fuck up royally, the biggest risk is getting your console banned from Nintendo's online servers. You can use incognito mode to prevent your switch from connecting to the servers in the first place, preventing a ban.

I’ve wondered if the same Prodinfo data could be in another encrypted file somewhere else and we’re just fooling ourselves…
The best protection is to totally block any transactions to the server so using 90DNS or DNS_MITM is best I prefer DNS_MITM

If you use an emuMMC, and take the proper precautions on there e.g. dns_mitm OR 90DNS for blocking Nintendo’s servers, and exosphere for blanking your prodinfo, that’s about the best you’re going to get right now.

Use the 90DNS tester if you like to make sure you’ve not missed anything before pirating (this works with dns_mitm too).

I’ve had the same emuMMC for years now, I used incognito on it when I first set it up (don’t do it these days!!) and never experienced an issue with the prodinfo being gone
