Using game discs on the digital version of a game.

Hi everyone!
Question, if I have downloaded a game from game pass, for example Halo: Infinite, if I get the game disc and put in my Xbox, will I get the full ownership of the game? Or will it download the game again?

you only buy two copies of the same disk, never become the owner, the owner of the game is the producer, you buy the right to use the software on a hardware.

I can't say with the xbox, but with the ps4, it will force you to delete the digital version, then it will install the meta of the disc. I assume the same is true of the xbox. though, with the ps5, I think it was different as I own bloodborne and one of the psn ambassador games is that game. hmm, not sure really.

You won't get anything until you actually insert the disc really. The game will still be installed since you already have it. A disc for Xbox nowadays just serves as not only a glorified key but as a download trigger essentially.

Nothing changes, you just can use the disc to play the game or don't use it until you don't have Game Pass anymore. Only then will the key be useful for the lock.

So if my game pass expires, and I go get the game disc and inserted in my Xbox, I will be able to play it.

I believe the installed gamepass version will still work if you buy the disc version. It'll just use the license key that's on the disc to run it

So you won't need to delete / install it again

Correct. Like I said, that's when the key will be useful for the lock.
