Sounds like a stupid question so let me explain lol.

I love Android, and have used multiple ROMs on multiple devices over the years, so am definitely going to be trying Android on switch.

The main thing I see people using it for seems to be emulation, but I already have a tab s7 for that.

I was wondering are there any other uses/benefits to running Android on Switch?

Can't decide whether to install Android on a seperate SD just to give it a try and see what its like, I know its not recommended to remove/reinsert the SD but it would just be a couple of times, or whether to add an Android install to my current SD as a more long term setup.

It’s a hack for Switch people who don’t have a tab s7 or prefer the Switch form factor and never having to fumble around with another device. No other real differences. Same software, same aps available.

Harder to leave a Switch on the counter at McDonalds?

Yeah, long term use of double SDCards will eventually break your fragile card reader. If you don’t have a lot on your sd card you can use Hekate to create a partition for Android and then your hands never have to leave the joycons to switch between OS. That’s the ideal setup. For just some limited testing you should be absolutely fine though. I’ve had mine out hundreds of times…just be gentle.

Basically it's because the Switch is the one device I always take with me on any trip (at least unless I get my Steam Deck) and since it's still a little bigger than my phone, I prefer using it for things like Netflix, Plex, Amazon Instant Video, Disney+, Crunchyroll and a few emulators that don't run well on Horizon yet (basically PICO-8 and Drastic).

I know not everyone owns a high end tablet, I didn't mean to sound like an ass, sorry if thats how it came across.

I figured the actual experience of Android on switch would be largely the same as running Lineage on any other device.

I was interested to hear what people were using it for in case there was some use case specific to the switch I wasn't thinking of.

A Tab S7 doesn't have gaming controls built in. The Switch is just way more convenient to pick up and play.

Game streaming is also a thing the Switch does well. Steam Link works great on Switchroot.

You can also use it as a media player. Dock the Switch and enjoy Netflix, Kodi etc on your TV (if you don't have a smart TV)

I find android on switch useless myself but hell I also usually have my actual android tablet running live TV or youtube, amazon, etc in the background while I play my switch anyway.

With Android on Switch can you run thing like Youtube and Netflix?
Youtube yes, netflix not sure, iirc it has issues with custom rom but can be bypassed with magisk. Didn't try as I cancelled my subscription long time ago.
Btw both have native switch clients on eshop.
