Am I the only one bothered by the ethnic groups in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

Seeing characters who are clearly European and African in a game based in feudal Japan annoys me. I want the characters to look ethnically Japanese and have Japanese names. They can add in some characters to represent Japan's ethnic minorities as they were at that point in history but there's no need to Americanize the game.

Interesting. I found it refreshingly good to see so many people of color in the game.
It's a fantasy game after all. There's not a single animal in this game, it's only humans and Pokémon. Thus it's completely fine to not only show japanese people.
I love japanese people but if we want the next generations to accept more diversity as a normal thing, it's important to represent this in all media they consume and a Pokémon game is a very big thing for that.

They seem to be more like travellers that get to a place where nobody was before, right?

Still, is a non-historical game, not a big deal if you ask me, is not like Netflix making people black or historical games making woke things.

This is the "Woke " decease.
Now conditionned, people can't make abstraction to what was "normal" decades ago. I can't remember how many games used different characters than "official" ones for their game. Who cares if characters are colored if the game takes place in Japan or somewhere else. Do we have to forbid a colored character just because the game takes place into a non "ordinary" place for this chara ?
If a heroic fantasy game took place in Africa for exemple, would you request from devs specific black dwarves or just dwarves, black evles or elves ? same question for Asia, Europe, Arabia...
Games are not documentaries, it is a place of imagination. Start bringing politic in them and it will be put to dust, just like everything that brough politic to it (security down, education down, health down, employement down...)
Don't "control" what the devs do, just enjoy it.
Clear your mind and play.

I would be more annoyed if it were a semi-realistic game like Assassin's Creed but I still prefer games to have characters which correctly match the setting.

This "feudal japan" of yours has victorian era clothing (w/ buttons ups), a digital cameras, (professor carries.) Also architechure is also that of pre-modern AND and neo-Renaissance design. There are so many other clashing styles yet race is the only one seems to bother you. I find that quite interesting.

I don't know if you are racist but you are stupid... Every character in Japanese animation or Japanese video games are gaijin (strangers)! They 99% have colored and big eyes, colored hair, they are extrovert and wear strange and colorful clothes...
Manga are a mix between Japanese culture / dysney and European fantasy so basically they try to create a world that doesn't exist and the same happens with video game.

I live in Tokyo tho, it not means I'm right but I can tell Japanese people are the opposite of Japanese pop culture so it seems like you are chocked just because of black people or something because since the 1st pokémon game and anime they are all non Japanese ( even ash, his name is Sasha Satoshi wich is a mixed race name, and every single pokémon which has katakana's names. That mean non Japanese worlds ) )

Yup, this is a tough one for OP to talk themselves out of. Especially when you consider:

There are really more important things that this game needs to fix. Its horrible framerate for example.

I mean the only thing that bothers me is that they reuse the same ethnic selection instead of actually having more customized options. Just laziness I guess, but yeah it feels like im picking the same exact character across the recent pokemon games.

Not OP, but it doesn't seem all that interesting to me. Besides the camera, all of those things require a higher baseline level of knowledge than the fact that places generally weren't that racially diverse several hundred years ago, something that I suspect nearly anyone could tell you. Better to apply Hanlon's Razor and assume OP genuinely isn't familiar with such details barring evidence to the contrary.
