Resident Evil 4 HD fan project gets new trailer, releases next week

As we reported last month, a new mod pack for Resident Evil 4 is being worked on that will exhaustively remaster the entire game, updating the somewhat outdated HD release on Steam. The project is expected to hit its projected release date of February 2, 2022, and the team has just released a new trailer to celebrate this. The trailer gives a good look at the impressive updated visuals, and also touts "improved lighting effects" and "thousands of model revisions." This mod pack will be compatible with the Steam release of Resident Evil 4, versions 1.06 and 1.10.

If the RE franchise belonged to Nintendont I guess the lawyers would have come knocking.
From the FAQ section on the site:
No worries. Capcom is aware of the project and has allowed the project thread to be pinned on the Steam discussion forum for the game.
Guess they don't see it as a competitor for whatever plans they have for RE4.

Lmao, maybe someone doesn't know how to use YouTube and change your stream settings from auto (480) to its original source 4k.

Can clearly see the improvements, they've actually done what I would consider a true HD remaster, not the shit lazy devs crap out, which are just direct ports with very little if anything changed and slap "HD Remaster" into the name.

Just because a game can port over and look better due to it running on better hardware and higher resolution, does not make it an "HD REMASTER", when I emulate Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64) in 4k resolution, it looks and runs far better than it originally does on the N64, nothing has been changed or touched, yet its exactly the same thing, looks and runs better because I am running it on better hardware.

Then let's also not forget how these sheep defend and cant understand the difference between these so called "HD REMASTERS", they insist devs are not porting the game again and its classed as a "REMAKE" when nothing has been changed.

A remake would be the likes of Resident Evil 2, which some sheep confuse it and consider it as a "HD REMASTER".

God I think RE4 will go down in history as a game thats been ported over to every single platform, and to top it off, the game isn't that "special" to even deserve the endless times it gets ported, I'd be surprised if they dont port it again to the PS5/SX.

And these days the simpleton millenials are like WOW SHUT UP AND RAPE ME OF MY MONEY and keep buying into the lazy shit devs get away with, because you buy into it, same goes with all this digital shit.

Take Craptivision, all these CoD sheep that blindly buy its multiple recycled shit titles each year are now getting ripped off by funding broken games littered either bugs, a game now that doesn't even come on the disc you paid stupid money for, yup, you fund and supported all this digital shit, now devs are getting away with pushing its games that are riddled with bugs and are as digital only, we will fix your game at a later date "please wait".

I remember the good old days when you purchased a physical copy of a game, that it actually came complete on the media format that the console used at that time, and came solid/complete and actually went through QA testing to ensure the end product was fit for purchase, if by any chance that said game was defective, you was by law entitled to return the game and have it replaced with another copy free of defects.

Now you don’t, your told to either wait for them to fix the game, or forced to download massive day one patches.

They don't run any QA anymore, yes they lure the sheep into doing it for them, by making you enter into a legal binding agreement to purchase the game as a pre order, in order to get access to its beta, where you, the sheep are doing all the bug testing and QA for them, for free.... and you still end up with an half arsed bug infested game that isnt complete on the disc.

Sure, you have the option to cancel your pre order but the point is, back in the good old times, these so called "beta's" you're paying for, we used to call them demo's that came free with your monthly magazine or even as a free download once consoles introduced an online store.

But anyway, back to the point, you can clearly see the massive improvements these people have done to Resident Evil 4, I am 50/50 on the idea that I like the fact they havent bump mapped every single texture like devs do these days, it in most cases these days looks shit and makes everything look like its made of plastic.

But then again, some devs have done a good job at mapping its textures, so that it doesn't look shiny and like plastic, if done like this, some of the textures could look better if it used bump mapping right, rather than looking like a flat high resolution image.

After watching this video, I can't wait for it to be released and yup, will actually buy it off steam store even though I own every single version of it that has been ported over (my OCD, cant handle not having a complete collection, it even triggers when you see the likes of Shitflix only having movie 2 out of 3).

I think this project is that impressive, they have shown crapcom what a true "HD REMASTER" is, unlike the shit they crap out.

In fact the team behind this should really set up as a small independent studio and actually remaster their games properly as they should have been in the first place, but they don't.

Be one of very few independent studios that when they say "HD REMASTER", they actually mean "HD REMASTER" unlike the independent studio that gave us this piss poor excuse of a "HD REMASTER", Shadow Man.

The Dreamcast version of the game looks and runs miles better than this crap, it litrally has next to no improvement at all, you have some slight alterations to the game, but if you actually compare the game with its so called "HD TEXTURES" on and off, you see very little difference at all.

God, I did a far better HD Texture pack many years ago on PJ64s HD Texture loading feature, shame that I never really completed any of my texture packs back then and never made a back up copy of them either. Back then I even started up scalling and cell shading Resident Evil 1 (GameCube) via Dolphin, but never completed it or made a backup.

But I might actually consider grabbing PJ64 again to start dumping Shadow Man textures and actually make a HD Texture pack that will look far superior to this pathetic excuse that dev team crapped out.
Im not reading all of that.

So when my PC is too bad for the intended framerate, it is "my" fault. But when a N64 game runs at a low framerate, it was actually programmed that way? Then why do games like Perfect Dark still stutter depending on the situation? Could emulation at least keep it at the intended framerate?
Usually it comes down to how they programmed it. for instance, the framerate in many games may be tied to how fast other things are, so an increase to the framerate would just make the game look like it's on fast-foward. this is a simplification, but it is a very VERY annoyingly common enough practice. makes it hard to mod some games. I'm looking at you, tales of symphonia >=[
