So, years back I went WiiU crazy and installed everything to a single hard drive. I have everything booting off the WiiU main screen using (i think?) forwarders. So I boot up my WiiU and go to my Gamecube folder and boot up something straight from there, and it asks me to choose Tv or Tv/Gamepad. This works normally for Wii games and, of course, WiiU games boot normally too. Everything works normally.

Fast forward to today: I want to use a classic controller hack on DKC Returns. I figured whatever setup i have to boot into DKC Returns from the WiiU OS wouldn't work in vWii so i put the game on the Sd card. When I boot into vWii I can't seem to find the game on the Sd card. It's currently setup as a wbfs file in /wbfs/[game id]/[game id].wbfs. (I have gecko installed with a /codes/[game id].gct file ready to go but launch game attempts to boot the dvd drive instead).

I did a little research and found perhaps it needs to be on the hdd this way but when I plug my hdd into my pc it "doesn't exist" in the normal fashion.

I believe, but i'm not sure if i did, use ustealth in the past but R7 & R8 do not unlock the drive. The drive status is *unknown* and "you cannot make changes to an unknown boot sector type!" error occurs, probably for good reason indicating I may have not used ustealth back then...?

Does any of this make sense to anyone/ring a bell/memory and have any guidance?

You won't use Ustealth unless you use 2 drives. Games must be installed with wup. Use teconmoon's script on that wbfs game. Don't know about cheats though.

Ah yes, it was teconmoons injector to set this up! Thank you! I understand you don't know about cheats..me neither! haha

Is there a way to boot Wii games off the SD card? I may be able to figure out how to apply cheats after I figure that out.

Cfg USB Loader does it very well. I load Wii games from SD cards exclusively, and there are only 2-3 games in the entire Wii library that won't work that way.
Thanks! I managed to get the game running with CFG but I can't seem to get the DKC Returns Classic Controller hack cheat working! I tried v1 and v2 of the code.... I'll keep digging!

ok! got it working! the codes for this hack are scattered far and wide with several variations etc etc. Thanks for the help!

I wonder if you can get teconmoons script to add in cheats somehow...? there is a cheats box you can check in the nintendont configuration but that's about all i saw.

Nice to hear :) Don't know much about cheats though, but now I'm curious, what does this DKC cheat do?
It is essential for a “classic gamer” haha

It converts motion controls to button controls so the wonky motion waggle controls are gone. The cool thing is it enables classic controller support (normally the game refuses to get past the title screen if the classic controller is attached).
So the controls are now very close to snes DKC games and the R button is the motion control button.
