I recently changed my ps3’s hdd to 1 tb toshiba hdd. I first Connected it to my pc, checked through hard disk sentinel and it shows the hdd is perfectly fine and has a lot of life left. I formatted it to exfat and used it on my ps3. The transfer speed has been extremely slow and laggy since then. some info here.
Im using ftp using my ethernet cable. I get 20 mb/s speed everytime. But since changing the hdd, the speed has gone to 8 to 5 to 16 and then completely stopped. I’m trying to bulk transfer files, over 100 gb but it’s taking too long. I can confirm my ethernet cable, ethernet ports on both ends and all other settings are okay. I tried it earlier on other ps3 and was fine everything and i had 19-20 mbs speed. Note that this is not the first time I’m countering this issue, i have countered it twice in the past with different ps3s (all of them had their hdds changed to 1tb and all the hdds were either new or just like new). I’m still not sure what’s causing this.

im using filezilla and webman to ftp. Tried multiman but didnt help. I have attached some logs i got from filezilla

I remember buying a brand new ps3 system back in the day. The games would take ages to load and when the games did load they were a stuttering mess. Had to swap the hard drive for a new one and somehow that was brilliant and loaded fine.

Check the speeds on the hard drive itself and compare it with your old one. It should say on the white label

Don't trust hard drive with SMR technology know to slowing down and more random problems to appear anytime. I heard SMR cause a lot of trouble like slow down and poor performance make gaming load slow down and choppy / lag when playing in biggest / huge map size look a lot of worse.

Stick with hard drive which have CMR technology then no problems with speed for PS3, PS4, PC, etc.
