Gamecard Installer NX: A way to install your gamecards directly to your switch!

Hi everyone!

I've made a gamecard installer, which as the name suggets, installs your gamecards directly to your switch!

The app is quite simple, with only 3 options.
  1. Install to the nand.
  2. Install to the sd card.
  3. Exit.
However I spent some time polishing the UI and added some cool features as well.
  • Support for multi gamecards (gamecards with multiple games inside, press L / R to cycle through them).
  • Full touchscreen support.
  • Music support. Simply drop any .mp3's into the app folder /switch/gamecard_installer/ and the app will play these songs at random! (sub folders are supported).
  • Displays gamecard info such as total size, key generation and app ID.
  • Displays free nand / sd card memory. This is updated after installing a game.
  • Cleans up all placeholders on startup. This means if you used an app that failed to install a game and it didn't delete the placeholder after, my app does it for you.
  • Should anything go wrong, a error code for that specific error will be displayed. This will save time when reporting issues.

A guide for installing this app, as well as a guide on how to compile app can be found on my repo (linked below).

v1.0.1:
  • Fixed incorrectly returned the sys version number (fw 8.1.0 would be returned as 8.0.1).
  • Fixed bug that would cause the installed game to sometimes still as a gamecard.
  • Fixed bug that would make it so that it would sometimes not push the correct application record which caused game updates that was previously installed to say that it was not.
v1.0.0:
  • Initial release.

Where you using the latest version? This was a problem with an older version of the installer.

did you have anything preinstalled for botw? Did you install anything after installing botw with my installer?

if you want to delete the game, you can use goldleaf.

I used the version downloaded from the HB App store which turned out to be 2.0.0.
I tried using another Homebrew before but deleted using normal data management.
I installed latest update and dlc manually after install.
Thank you for the tip about goldleaf and the quick reply.

Which installer did you use to install the dlc and update? A few months ago, I checked every installer for the bug that you just described, and every installer (apart from sxos built in installer) had the bug. I believe that Blawar tinfoil fixed the bug months ago, not sure about awoo, I know goldleaf still has it.

the bug happens when you install update / dlc with the gamecard *still* inserted.

I used Lithium 7.0.1 and you are absolutely right about leaving the gamecard inserted. Thanks again for the quick reply I managed to remove it with goldleaf.

Use DBI for installing from carts or XCI. Then no files will be corrupted.

I've never heard of DBI before, I'll check it out, thanks.

Do you have the right sig patches for your CFW setup? Hekate fss0/fusee-secondary needs different sig patches from fusee-primary.

I'm not sure what that means at the moment, but I dumped keys myself. I'm very new to Atmosphere and Hekate.

I installed to an SD card and I got an error that the game data was corrupt when I tried to run it. Did I do something wrong?

Edit: I thought I had read through all pages, but I missed the last one. I see that I need to use DBI, which I will look up. Thanks!

The tool no longer works under FW 16.0.0. Does anyone know where to get a working version?
Thanks in advance.

I think tinfoil supports gamecard installing. Gamecard installer is very out of date, I don't recommend using it, even if someone else recompiles it

The tool is outdated, haven't have any update for 4 years.
Alright thanks. Listen, I recently added atmosphere to my switch. I basically just want to dump my BOTW game. Though i did with nxdump tool. The thing is, It wouldnt let me dump it as a NSP and I couldnt figure out how to play it as an XCI image.

Bonus Points: I want to transfer my BOTW Save to Switch. I did the saveMii. I think I got the file. Not sure what to do next.

You can use tool like 4NXCI or SAK if you want to convert from from XCI to NSP format, as for save converting you can try the BotW save converter.
