A CaVE Database update has been posted for SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive v1.1.0.0.

For database updates by themselves, you don't need to redownload the CaVE rar. You will find a link for the update below that.

For information about why you need the update and how to install these database updates, a FAQ entry has been provided.

Merry Christmas!

I like to post updates and projects as a present for Christmas, and this year I have...

A minor CaVE Update! Wooo!

But seriously, while I did decide to update CaVE with a few fixes and some feature tweaks, what I mainly have is the beginning of bringing CaVE more inline with what people may expect from it. I call it a Preset Database. What it does is, if you have appropriate Preset Database files installed, when you add a game all its information, including description and images are automatically set.

This feature has existed for a while, and while I intended for the N64 images collab to be a trail run... the author never made the images public. But that aside, the feature is now fully utilized with my first Preset Database release! SNES USA!

You can find out more here. But the short description is, I generated info and images for 720 SNES USA games.

But this isn't just for new users that have yet to add the games. Thanks to the CaVE update you can import these presets to your current database... as long as your ROM's checksum matches.

My goal is to have info values that are as close to what Nintendo would do if they added the game themselves, with some caveats. I'm not saying than my SNES USA database is even 100% done. But it's good enough to probably make most people happy! NES, N64 and Genesis are supported, as well as Japanese, PAL and misc games like unlicensed or ROM hacks... but I have done little to no work on those, and have no clue if I personally want to work on them at all. I may move onto Super Famicom, or N64. Or I may do nothing more myself. But the project is available in a google sheet form, so it will be expandable by others if they want. I dont have everything figured out for how I would handle and manage that though.

Enjoy! =)

Hey DarkAkuma, good to see you back working on CaVE or any possible SNESC work. Saw some of your old posts about Dungeon Master, that would be sick if you got it working.

Have a good new year

Hi. I used the WWF No Mercy DTZ, it is presented as green in the compatibility list but, the audio has a 3 - 4 seconds lag, thus making it unplayable. But at least it got to boot! Despite this fact, it should be highlited in yellow.

The WWF WrestleMania 2000 one, works about 90 percent as it should, so green it is. (Some overclock needed)

The WCW / nWo Revenge, works great on single matches, and have some glitches in career mode, but it is playable nonetheless. Green it is.

So, I'll wait with hope for a No Mercy update. Thanks!!

Hi,

Thanks for Cave manager. I have used it to build custom NES and N64 db which work great.

The SNES one I am still having trouble with. It always crashes while loading the cover art. I added around 15 games and removed some of the stock games, installed the Full Unlock cheat but nothing seems to help.

I'm on the latest Atmosphere and Nintendo Online SNES app.

Any ideas?

CaVE Database Manager has now been updated to v1.3.5.0, and includes default support for NSO Nintendo 64 v1.2.0.0 (The Banjo Kazooie update).

A new setting was added to the lclassics.titlesdb, "sram_file_size". So no simple json update this time. I had to update the CaVE exe itself. The new setting is listed and adjustable in the "Advanced Info" column. (If you don't see that column, go to "View > Columns > Show Advanced Info".)

EDIT:

in bigger news (at least to me...)... Goldeneye now works well enough for me to release my DTZ! It's now available on the dtz sheet!

It has slowdown and choppyness issues, particularly on scene changes. But the RNG crashes seem to be fixed, at least with a quick look.

I found a page where there are about 40 ready-to-go N64 titles on this app. Is there a way to extract the DTZs? Because there, for example WWF No Mercy works flawlessly.

Please don't support such garbage packages. They are an insult to all my work and effort. Naturally, I won't offer any support or advice for such things.

That is correct, as a matter of fact, the site did not have that package, it must be fairly recent and some are in Russian or something.

I just want WWF No Mercy working.

If you like, I could PM you the site, so you could maybe ask to take that package down.
