So I was trying to get a nonpdrm version of DOA5+ with all the DLCs working and I was trying a bunch of versions and DLCs, installing and deleting and and no matter what I did DLC wouldn't show. I think somewhere along the line I deleted just the DLC content, tried running the game and it froze at character select... So I deleted the game (through the bubble)... And now ANY nonpdrm game I drag over and refresh for shows 0 items refreshed, and any PKGj game I download gives an error in install...

Installed a good 20 or so games until this point, and they all still work, I just can't install anything new. Pulling my hair out trying to find the solution to what has gone wrong... Anyone able to offer some help?

Sorry, only been using the hacked vita for a few days, so it's all a little new to me. PSV2000 on Henkaku-O 3.65, using 128g SD2Vita transferring games through usb. Tried rebuilding the database in safe mode, deleting anything in the tai folder in ux0, adding a space before every kernel listed in config.txt in ur0 tai and rebooting (dunno why but someone somewhere said it worked for them). Did a search on the sdcard when connected to usb for any remaining DOA related files etc. Nothing I've found in forums and reddit so far has worked.

My knowledge is not good enough. You have big trouble, oh man.
Let me explain. I am also new to this Vita system and I had buy for 1 month a PSTV with USB version. I had learn quickly that the USB version is very bad working, it ends up in the same problem like you, nothing is working anymore. I had fix this problem of installing all new with Henkaku. I had try it more and more and all time the USB mode had delete everything and had break up totally the entiry system. After that I had buy SD2Vita, but I had not find the time to check it out. I had also buy a original Sony 16GB save card, this one is perfect working with Henkaku ! I do not know of SD2Vita but it works on the same way like USB mode, it will mount your drive as memory. When you mount anything wrong with your drive (testing with USB) all will be delete. I had found on google some other users with USB mode who had the same problem. But I had read very often here and there from other users that SD2Vita should work a lot better than USB mode. Maybe you had wrong mounted your SD2Vita card ? But even than its maybe to late, you can delete all and install Henaku and Enso new. The Vita homebrew scene is small so we have to find the good answers. (I am not talk of USB transfer mode for original Vita)

In hope there is better help coming, please wait for better answer. But check out your mounting SD2Vita memory driver.

''installed a good 20 or so games''

Maybe the bubbles are limited ? I had read there was a app on the HBrowser site, install is limited, you need a extra app for that. I have only 10 PC ports on my memory card and Adrenalin, so I do not know.

EDIT :

Vita Launcher v.3.5 - An application that allows to launch other installed apps, roms from emulators and PSP games and homebrews thbrough Adrenaline. This removes the bubbles limit of Livearea and allows to categorize applications.

yeah, not sure why the limit is so high considering the price of those memory cards. I think people found that out on the pstv. I believe that's the reason for that game loader app, since it can bypass that limit afaik.

Edit: Side note encase it's relevant, just tried to delete a game I didn't need through the bubble and it gave an error. Don't wanna try with other games incase it works and then I can't install them again...

Edit 2: A blank DOA 5 bubble just popped up randomly on the vita home screen... I'm so confused. I found this link saying bad DOA files exist that stay hidden... That person couldn't delete games either. Is this what is causing it? (can't post link, forum won't let me)

ux0:tai/config.txt is not found
ur0:tai/nonpdrm.skprx

why is nonpdrm.skprx not in ux0: ? I had install it for some days ago, so its fresh in my brain.
what is the mounted drive ?

My install notes ->

ux0:tai/nonpdrm.skprx - config.txt - go on KERNEL press right - text 0004 press X - ux0:tai/nonpdrm.skprx , go back O and save. main menu and start button, REBOOT, vitashell referesh live area

original notes ->

Installation

Download the latest nonpdrm.skprx, copy it to ux0:tai and modify the ux0:tai/config.txt file to add the path to the module under *KERNEL as follows

*KERNEL
ux0:tai/nonpdrm.skprx

Don't forget to reboot your device, otherwise the plugin will have no effect yet.
If you know what you are doing, you may change this path to an arbitrary location as long as it matches the exact location of the module. You may also edit the ur0:tai/config.txt instead assuming you do not have a config.txt file inside the ux0:tai/ folder

Again... I can't post the link to another post I found, but corrupt game files seem to be the issue. I'm just not sure how to go about fixing it. Found someone with exact same issue that say they have hidden system files in certain games, and the person in the post like me can play games, but not install or delete them.

EDIT - After two formats learned that the problem was caused whenever I put hidden files from Windows to the memory Card, used WinRAR to extract the files, but they show hidden (not the usual hidden property, they were treated as system files archives) after redownloading and using JDownloader internal archive extrator the files don't have the system files hidden property anymore... so strange.

EDIT 2 - The files were corrupted, the only indicator I had of corruption was the hidden files property treated as Windows system files and JDownloader giving me an error using its internal extractor (7Zip).

" they show hidden (not the usual hidden property, they were treated as system files archives) " This is what I think is the important part. I have had the exact same message and it started with DOA5, just as this persons problem did.

Edit 2: I think I've found that problem may come from bad nonpdrm game: Dead or Alive 5+ every files in this game after extract are SYSTEM PROTECTED files, 3 times copy this game to sdcard, 3 sdcard format.

cy33hc, not or me :)

It seems easy here, the user had install bad rom file. This roms are everywhere, romhustler or what ever. In this fact thanks for reporting not to install DOA, or be carefully. Bad rom files has every console.

@Renvaar just double checking but you don't have a ux0:tai/config.txt still do you? That could possibly be causing issues if you did though it seems a lot more likely that peter8 could be right in that you just got a bad dump and now it's messing with things. Also do as @cy33hc suggests and check you content with the content manager app on the vita itself. It'll tell you if you have corrupted files.

It could also be that whatever windows program you're using to extract them may be causing the corruption, so if you're using WinRAR try using 7zip or vice versa though that's getting into territory that I won't touch further than that on this forum.

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
