Replacing old unpatched Switch with new patched one's components

Hello everyone,

I have two Switches, one patched and brand new, the other one is unpatched and very old with some parts like the fan making noise and overheating, I assume the battery is also very used.

My question is : can I use the new switch parts to put them into the old one, or maybe invert the process and put the old switch's motherboard to have a brand new unpatched switch ?

I hesitate to just sell the new patched switch and buy like a fan on amazon and maybe a battery or even other pieces to give it a fresh start but I just started in the switch world so I came for ur wise experienced advices

I'm not an expert on this so hopefully someone else can give more details but for some parts it will work and for others it will not. The battery will work for sure. You can actually get aftermarket batteries that are larger than anything Nintendo offers. For the fan I'm not 100% sure but I think it will work. For the gamecard reader some readers are incompatible with some screens so there's a chance replacing either the screen without the reader or the reader without the screen will cause you to lose touchscreen functionality. You should also consider that there is the prodinfo / cal0 partition on the NAND which contains calibration measurements specifically for the parts in that Switch. I'm unsure what replacing parts without updating that will cause.

Thanks for the battery tip, I think I'm just going to buy a fan and a battery online and sell the new Switch as it is, it just seems like an easier thing to do

Hello again, I just noticed I still have a warranty, do you think I get into trouble (would they see if the switch is modded) if I give it to be fixed ? I don't want them to give me an unpatched one just fix the fan for this one
