Emunand should not be a folder but needs to be a partition as file based Emunand is prone to corruption

so i guess i should keep it on the switch and not laptop?
What @Shadow#1 is getting at is there are 2 ways to implement an emunand, as a partition and as a folder. A partition is preferred over a folder for reasons mentioned. It’s highly recommended that you read up on migrating from folder to partition based emunand. You will need space to make the conversion. It will still take up 29G even after you convert so it won’t solve your space issues.

If you chose to stay on the folder method you cannot delete the folder to save space as the emunand contains your emulated system state. You will have to make some informed decisions if you want to significantly change your setup to something like an emunand partition or moving everything to sysnand. If you haven’t read up on these options yet you might want to migrate to a larger card. It sounds like you‘re headed into larger sd card territory regardless of your emunand decision.

Bottom Lines: You will lose your games and ability to boot as you currently do if you delete your emunand. Don’t just delete it. Make a backup on your PC as you are at risk of corrupting a file based emunand (the gods delete your emunand without your consent.)

Your Switch needs access to the emunand in order to run it. How do you propose that happens if the emunand is on a laptop? This is like asking if you need to put the gasoline inside your car's fuel tank or can you keep it inside a container in your garage. Sure, you can keep it in the container - so long as you don't plan to actually drive anywhere.
