W-Lan Problems with my PS5

Hey there,

Ive got my PS5 a few days ago and i am still downloading my ps4 library onto my external SSD. But i have a little Problem. Usually i use W-Lan for most of my devices. But somehow it does not work on my PS5. I try to give you a picture of my Problem. I Start the PS5. I search for Networks. It finds my Networks. I input my Data and try to connect. I get a Failure message that the Connection is too weak(the console stands about 1,5 meters away from the router). Now i cant even see ANY wireless networks AT ALL. I restart my console. Repeat to read from "I Start the PS5". Its definitley not the Router because EVERY other device works without any problems. I Hooked the PS5 Up to LAN but somehow here i do have a problem with my router. Ive got a Fritz Box. A good one. and i can choose for every LAN Port between Power Mode(1 Gbit) and Green Mode (100 Mbit). Of course i use Power Mode for all my Ports. Still it shows as LAN1 (100mbit), LAN2 (100mbit) and so on. I have a 275mbit Connection so i really would appreciate to use that to the full extend. Ther may be a slight chance that the LAN Problem is because of my cables but i cant test that right about now. The real Problem here is the WLAN on my PS5. Does anyone have any idea how to fix that??

Here is what i tried so far:

Restart Console - no change
Restart Router - no change
Input DNS and MTU Data manually - no change
Use 5GHz option - no change
Go into save mode and Clear Cache, Rebuild database and Update system - no change

I really do not know what else i can do to fix that problem. The strange thing is that in the First few hours the WLAN connection worked. Then suddenly it broke down and now ive got this problem on my hand. I did not realize it at first. It could be that the problem started after the System Update, the first one after Booting up my console for the first time. Or maybe after i attached my external SSD but what could that possibly have to do with that??

If anyone has any ideas i would really appreciate that.

I've had this problem before with the nvidia shield (weak signal). the problem was the channel I was using on the router. make sure it's set to auto or a different channel than what it's on.

Hey there. Thanks for the Info. Sadly it didnt work. Tried some of the channels but no dice. Also that wouldnt explain why after the first failed try i wouldnt find any Wireless networks anymore. Not my 5GHz one, not my 2,4GHz one and also none of my neighbours. On the first scan i have like 20 Networks for choosing. After i try connecting to mine and failing i cant find ANY network until i restart the console.

Yeah i fear so too. But i really dont wanna do that. Its Definitly still under warranty as i only have it since Thursday but i do not want to send it in to wait some weeks for it to be returned. Also i havent heared any good about the Repair Services Sony Employs here in Germany. But maybe i should contact the Sony support about this.

WELL looks like its DAMN IMPOSSIBLE to contact the Sony Support. You only run in circles on the website while trying to find any kind of contact form or email or something. There is only a Phone number that goes only from Monday to Friday. Damnit.

Try reinstalling the firmware. If you install the same firmware, you'll probably have to do it in the recovery mode.

I allready "Updated" the same update from Recovery mode. Still no change. Fuck it. LAN works even if not like it should for now i think i will rather live with it then file a repair or replace ticket only to send it in wait a month or two and get it back with the exact same problem and maybe some more.

I allready had the wlan channel in my router set to auto. but then tried to set it to different settings but it didnt work. Like i said it cant really be my Router. all other devices work and like i mentioned when the failure occures i cant find ANY wireless network with my PS5. Normally i have like 10 or 20 Networks in the list because of my neighbors. And after the failure ive got none. none at all.

Hi there,
same problem here as BlackZero500:
My brand new PS5 has trouble finding any of the numerous available WiFi Access Points in the neighborhood in the first place.
All other devices, even those right next to the console, are having no problems at all connecting wirelessly to the internet almost instantly.
Sometimes you can get the connection to work after a while, but after a restart the console has lost the connection again.

@BlackZero500: Have you (or anyone else) found a satisfying solution in the meantime? Or was it a hardware error after all?

I had the same issues, i fixed it by getting a new router that has AC support.

My ISP modem didn't had AC, then every time i tried to connect my PS5 to it was a nightmare. Low speeds, connection losses and even not connecting at all.

I set my new router's 5GHz connection to AC and had no problems since then.

What do you mean with " AC" ?

What Router did you buy?
