Hey everyone, I wanted to start an early Yugioh Rush Duels Translation Project Request. Rush Duels hasn't been released in the west and so far is japan exclusive so I don't think this game will get globalized. If you want to contribute to this project please reply to this thread. There are links below about the game. JP release date is Aug 12th 2021 about a month away!

A Demo will be available sometime in July.

This has peaked my interest. Love me some old school Yu-gi-oh and if this game has 3D monster attacks I’m totally in. Currently juggling some 3D Unity game engine map building work for Skater XL on PC but once I wrap that up and a few more projects I need to finish up I’ll definitely jump into busting this out.

Even though the game is now out in English, I do have a request I'd like to make: a LayeredFS mod to use the Japanese voices. I tried setting this up myself, but I can only assume they changed the names of the .wav files in the .ab files as it wouldn't work (even tried the entire RomFS folder from the Japanese version to make sure I didn't have the wrong files). I don't think it's Yuzu, as the emulator did seem to use the files (they were locked in and unable to be edited while the game was running, and my "mod" did appear in the Add-Ons list). And yes, I did have the proper file structure, at least based on the instructions (Open Mod Data Location, in it I made a folder called Mod, in it I put the RomFS folder with the entire folder structure intact).

Of course, the reverse (text from the English version modded into the Japanese version) would be just as great, whatever's easier for the modder.

Do you know how to extract/open the .ab files?

Sadly, I don't. If I knew how (and how to repack), I probably would've been able to find out how to do the rest (well, depending on how the game's programmed a potential problem could be that the speech duration is different from the length of the .wav in question, resulting in too-long silent endings or worse, cut-off speeches).

All I know is that they contain a bunch of .wav files of seemingly randomly numbers, as the Japanese version also had .ab.manifest files that could be opened in any text editor and contain information (not necessarily complete, they were quite barren with some other files) of what's inside the corresponding .ab file. But those manifest files don't actually do anything (they're just information), no idea why they're even in the Japanese version, so they removed them from the English version (so no idea if the .wav files were actually renamed, but that's the only reason I can think of why LayeredFS didn't work).

I've figured out how to use some of the English files on the Japanese version of the game (game ID: 01003c101454a000). Obviously, all DLC stuff is still untranslated (and don't count me on translating anything, I only know how to mix and match files), but it still removes some of the burden in remembering cards (and 1 thing that does get translated on DLC cards is type, which definitely helps. No need to remember any of the non-effect DLC monsters). I've also put the English menu files in, so some menu stuff is also translated (only the ones that are text, not the images). The font is pretty ugly though, nothing I can do about that.

This is a LayeredFS mod. Here's how to use it on Ryujinx (for anything else, you'll have to figure it out yourself):
1. Right-click the installed Japanese Rush Duel game
2. Select "Open Mods Directory"
3. Unzip the downloaded zip file into the folder that opens. You can rename the EnglishText folder if you want (but everything else has to keep their name)

EDIT: 1 minor problem I've discovered is that the fusion tutorial breaks: in the multi-choice effect window you can't select 1 of Sevens Paladin's effects. However, multi-choice fusions still work properly in duels, so there's nothing to worry about.
