Hello!
I have a Switch OLED someone else tried to perform a modchip install and knocked off the CMD resistor in the process.

He didn't try to turn the board on when he noticed he removed the res.
Does anyone happen to know the resistor value?

Thanks!

That resistor is 3.5Kohm. I knocked it off myself and lost it. sthetix got the value for me from his working board.
Meanwhile I received another OLED and while I was doing the mod I measured the resistor.
Found a similar value on an old 3DS board and harvested it :P

Thx for the information, though!

Cheers!

Hello! I need help to identify the missing capacitor near emmc. Switch Oled. Would somebody be so kind to measure the capacitor from their own switch if possible.

Where can I buy these components? I knocked the one beside the cmd. Do you know it's value?
I saw you saw this resistor value in the other thread.
It's 0201 47kOhms. I'd say you can find it online. Try Aliexpress.
Good luck!

So I knocked my CMD one too, I still have it, but is there a special trick to reattaching it? Also do I have any other options or am I SoL? I looked for the 0201 online in case I need a new one and I see 3.48 KOhms and 3.57 KOhms, not sure which one would be correct, I am looking on mouser, if that helps. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

How did you knock it off? If you soldered a wire to it and pulled on that to take off the resistor, then that side of the resistor is probably no longer able to be soldered to. Otherwise, just flux and heat..

Also, the value is 4.7k, you should definitely find that in any sample book.

The resistor that is sitting on the CMD point is 4k7 ohm and the one beside that is 47k ohm.
You need steady hands, a microscope, and a fine tip soldering iron with good flux to solder it back. Hot air would be better.

I also knocked the 47k ohm resistor and realized my hands are not as steady at it used to be. The CLK point was especially troublesome. So I sent it to @de9ed to fix it and finish the mod.

Bought a 0207 sampler from Amazon for $70.
This mod taught me a lot and my total cost is close to $1600 already. Tools, equipment, shipping, chip, taxes, Switch, etc.

When I was trying to apply solder to the top part for the CMD, I guess I used the wrong tip and heated the resistor and it came off. I still have it, but it’s super hard trying to get it to line up with the pads and keep the pads heated

Is de9ed in US? I found a guy in TX, reviews look legit, it’s Wayayeo anyone know them?

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
