How do you rotate arcade games like 1941? Is there a way to automatically rotate them if they're upside down?

It's a bit of a confusing situation, but rotation is broken in RetroArch for Wii U. However, because some cores are able to do their own rotation separate from RetroArch's built-in rotation, you can get games to rotate correctly that way.

First, you need to go into Settings > Core > Allow Rotation and set it to OFF. That disables the built-in RetroArch rotation. Then, if the core you're using has its own rotation, it will see that you have RetroArch rotation off and do its internal rotation feature.

Canonnball core freezes when i press "Play Game" in OutRun. It loads the core and the game so I can edit settings, etc.. but as soon as I press "Play Game" it crashes. Anyone know of a fix? I have the correct rom files inside the Canonnball directory

It's a known issue, but please post your message here so they can take a look at it..

Is there any way to make the HOME button of the pro controller and gamepad work together? Because I can't set it on the pro controller, and it sucks to have to go to the gamepad to exit a game or enter the quick menu!

obs: I already tried to change the menu (toggle) in the hotkey options

There's no way to have all controllers to use the Home Button to open the menu BUT.. you can set your own Menu Combo in..
Settings>Input>Hotkeys>Menu Toggle Controller Combo... Personally I would set it to either L3+R3 or Start+Select

Hi all, I've installed Retroarch (Stable 1.9.13) on my Wii U (Haxchi) and most games / cores I've tried are working great but I'm having big trouble with booting TurboGrafx 16 games from the playlist I've made of all my ROMs. I've tried the Beetle PCE Fast, Beetle PCE & Beetle SuperGrafx cores and they're all locking upy console with a black screen & white text saying about dsi instr bad read from unmapped memory...

How can I fix this & play TurboGrafx 16 games?

Use the online updater and download the latest PCE Cores, delete your retroarch.cfg and try again, make sure you have the correct bios in the system folder :D

When I load up a PC Engine core (tried different ones) it says missing assets and icons are distorted? Anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone have a suggestion for black screen when attempting to load RetroArch? This is my first time trying to get it working. My WiiU is using CBHC and latest WiiU OS version, no other issues.

Things I've tried that all result in a black screen:

* Using yesterday and today's nightly, copying main retroarch folder to sdcard:\retroarch and HBC launcher to sdcard:\wiiu\apps\retroarch.
* Attempted to use stable build using same above.
* Tried using nightly main retroarch folder and stable HBC app (following this guide [Wii U] How To Install Retroarch!)
* Tried testing just HBC app for genesis_plus_gx_libretro
* Tried using nightly set up then renaming and using genesis_plus_gx_libretro rpx as retroarch.rpx
* Deployed the channel wup, tried launching it via this at various attempts above without success
* Tried downloading it via HBC store, downloads quickly but then installing it is super slow. It seems to hang at some point midway. I've read that it sometimes takes multiple attempts, only tried twice.

It does look like it's generating some initial cfg files on the sdcard: retroarch-salamander.cfg, retroarch.cfg.

One thing I haven't tried is tracking down an older stable build. Any thoughts on what to try next?

Is there any way to install retroarch as a wup package? Much like the 3DS retroarch, where you can choose 3DSX or CIA variants.

As retroarch can read the wiiu-mode usb disk, that installation would allow for a sd-less setup (haxchi doesn't need a sd to run). Just one HDD.

I know about injections, but these are useless for mame.

I have it installed as a forwarder, so you don't have to create a new installable channel every time there is an update. I don't have the WUP files anymore to install yourself, but I'm pretty sure it was created via the standard Haxchi method, if you've ever made a Wii U homebrew forwarder through the Haxchi means before, it should be the same method to do so for Retroarch as well.
