It requires more precision but you can see the crosshairs. Have you played the official VC release of Duck Hunt by chance? It’s a good example of what to expect. Harder but easier at the same time.

I did, that's exactly why I'm mentioning it, I'm not talking about the visual part of the crosshair, but rather the radius of the crosshair where it detects the shot.

Hi all, apologies if this has already been answered; I did use the search bar but couldn't find a definitive answer. I have the CrazyMac 2.0 build and it works great, but I know there has been some decent updates since the Aug 2019 build of RA it uses. I have looked for answers on how to update this, but didn't find anything concrete. Can I just download RA from the website, and replace it on my SD leaving my CFG file in place, or will this break my playlists. If it does, how could I fix these? I've heard some people say they need converting and others say the old ones still work?

Any help greatly appreciated, peace!

I cant say for certain since I've never personally used crazymac but you should be able to just replace any cores you want in the cores folder (sd:/retroarch/cores) with these: https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/wiiu/latest/ <-- these need to be extracted into the cores folder..

It's likely you will need to deleted your Retroarch.cfg (sd:/retroarch/retroarch.cfg) your playlists should still be safe..
Again.. I cant guarantee this wont mess with crazymac in someway.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen people online just drag over the new RA folder to their old RA folder and leave their cfg file in place, but I'm assuming something big must have changed so I would have to kind of match up the old config to a new config? As in, would I just kind of put them side-by-side and make sure the same settings are present in both sort of thing, is it going to be too much trouble than it's worth? I don't neccessarily NEED to update, I was just thinking if there's a big performance update from earlier builds it would be worth taking the time to do.

Specifically I wanted to see if performance in NEO GEO games was any better, as they do tend to chug a little on the 1.7.7 build CrazyMac 2.0 is using.

You can replace the RA folder if you want but with crazymac I assume you'd want to keep most of the setup in place..
and the easiest way to upgrade and keep the setup would be to just copy over the newer cores..
The reason I say to delete the Retroarch.cfg is when updating from an older version to a newer version, it tends to cause random issues if the old Retroarch.cfg is kept.

Look Here:

I commented above, take a look, but to update your RA to a newer version you can go to the site
https://www.marcrobledo.com/retroarch-playlist-editor/

EDIT:
For those who want to use Retroarch CrazyMAC, I'll leave the updated version of the playlists here.

Remembering that: when using crazymac, before updating to the newest cores, you must mandatorily leave your main command as gamepad, otherwise, a black screen with an error will appear. Then just put the updated playlist (json format version)

EDIT: All playlists updated! Thanx puffykilled2pac

My wiiu has been collecting dust lately because RetroArch was buggy last time I took a stab, ... Anyone quickly point me to a nightly or stable that works pretty well, or off hand, knows what version has known workarounds? I remember last time all my keybinds were broken cause the gamepad driver was borked, and I shelved it.

Stick to the latest Nightly it has the most improvements..

Not sure what you mean by Gamepad driver but recently it has become possible to have Pro controller and Gamepad connected as player one and the ability to control the Retroarch UI with all connected Controllers :D

To avoid problems with black screen, whenever you update the gamepad it must be on port 1, otherwise a black screen will happen. So if you are going to update the RA version of crazyMac as mentioned above, you must first put your gamepad on the port 1 and update your playlist to json version.

Thank you for your reply; I have downloaded the updated playlists. So, if I wanted to update now I would extract the new cores, replace the playlists with these ones, and that'd be it, or do I still need to deal with the CFG file? Also, with regards to the gamepad, how would I do that? I mostly always play with the Wii U gamepad and have not tried anything else.

Appreciate the response, cheers all

Hi, I'm sorry but I forgot to mention that you should change the playlist type (this option is in the RA general options, I can't send the correct location right now because I'm without my wiiU)

But I'll leave the step-by-step here for anyone who wants to update CrazyMac without any problem.

1 - Change playlist type to json style (VERY IMPORTANT)
2 - Gamepad must be default on port 1 of RA GENERAL configuration (VERY IMPORTANT)
3 - Save all modified content
4 - Update the playlists I made available above
5 - Update Cores

For those who use the pro controller, after updating the RA, you must enable the possibility of "Control the Menu with all Controllers", Also change the controller port only when entering the game and NOT in the RA's GENERAL setup.
